he had just one year of college head coaching experience and that was at FIU. he got the job at Minny because:

1) he took FIU, a downtrodden program, to 18-14 which was their best record in ages
2) his last name is pitino

he can absolutely coach his ass off but if you think he'd the coach at Minnesota after just one year as a college hoops head coach when his last name was not Pitino, then you are clueless

A Pitino can recruit. They don't call his pops Slick Rick for nothing.

I am sure he is donating to the right people. He wont be pulling in top 10 classes regularly, but he'll do enough to keep Minny happy during basketball season.

Might just be a layover in Minny before a bigger job comes calling. If that happens, then we will really see how far the apple falls from the tree. Bigger programs demand top notch recruiting. Minny isn't at or near that level.
