When your TV deal is seven billion and your team keeps over six billion of it I guess 200 million is well within the budget.

Wonder how much he'll get if he keeps up his dominance for 5 more seasons. $350 mil for 10 years?

dodgers make 340 million a year just through tv deals alone.

Paying kershaw 30 million a year is no big deal for them.

The best pitcher in MLB and he is just 25 entering his prime.

He deservers every cent of it.

Seems like a pretty friendly team deal.

He could have easily gotten a 10 year deal.

Im not so sure that teams will go that long with pitchers, injuries are much bigger issue with them. Also a 10 year deal in this case is actually worse for Kershaw. Generally, teams make deals longer to lower the AAV, Kershaw and the dodgers both would prefer shorter deal with a higher per year.

Also, Kershaw has an opt after 5 years meaning he will once again be a FA going into his age 31 season setting him up for another 250+ deal.

He will be out of the league via injury or just not being a good pitcher anymore by the time that 7 years are up

Only mistake for dodgers was giving him a 5 year out. The guy is best in game for sure but they did give him 215 million dollars. That he has the security of a 215 million dollar deal and he can opt out is pretty sick.

As far as the posters thinking its a bad deal for dodgers I respectfully disagree. The reason most of these 120 million plus multi year mega deals go bad at some point is the guys don't usually earn these type of offers till they are late 20's early 30's. This guy was such a beast early in his career that he will be done, with this contract by then not starting it.

Crazy money. Crazy how easy it is for the Dodgers to afford. As such, no brainer signing.

The best part end of this he'll still be in his prime hes thee best lefty in the game RIGHT NOW if not thee best pitcher period lol at that era what is this MLB the show video game?? 1.83 era last year 2.60 for his career so far hes the best I lost count of how many times he got 3 runs or less of run support. If he stays healthy he could be one of thee best ever.

Why build a new stadium ?yeah it's old but it has a unique feel ...you would have to go to understand the big A is nice but its not dodger stadium the smells the escalator ride it feels like your right on top of the action the only problem is getting in and out but thats LA...traffic. There's nothing better than being at dodger stadium listening to vin scully perfect weather the smell of the ball park...there really isn't a bad seat in the house view wise.

                                      Good move by the Dodgers.

They are going to be tough to beat this season.
