#12If you make your sole income from something than you are a "professional".
Kobe Bryant is a "professional basketball player", Billy Walter is a "professional gambler".
A person who is unemployed or retired, but who makes their money from gambling is a "professional gambler".
There are probably plenty of "professional gamblers" on here.Comment -

#15There are a few of us on SBR. For me, gambling has been my sole source of income for the past 10 1/2 years. That said, other than Daringly/Justin7, I don't know of any on SBR who make their living handicapping sports. Like most professional gamblers, almost all my income comes from poker. For me, sports betting is more like a fun hobby that I'm able to eek out a (very) small profit with, as opposed to a source of income that I count on to pay bills.
EDIT: As an aside, I would not recommend trying to become a professional sports bettor. 70% of the reason sports betting is just a hobby for me is because doing it hardcore is A) work intensive, B) super swingy, C) boring, and D) realistically speaking I'm not sharp enough. The other 30% is because books are terrified of taking action from non-retards. Small market stuff like boxing totals are easy to beat, but beat them for a month and watch yourself get limited to $100 or less. So even if I was capable of making my living solely from sports (which is honestly kind of doubtful) the books would limit me too fast (which they pretty much have anyway). If you want to gamble for a living either learn poker or scrape by whoring casino promotions in Vegas (see: Fishhead).Comment -
