Yeah I hate Stafford being in the meetings, the main focus of the next coach is going to be to tell him the truth and yell at him when he makes horrible throws/decisions which is far too common right now. Whisenhunt is a loser, so no real loss there. Very foolish decision by the Fords though, to keep Mayhew around. No legit coach is going to want to come into that situation with a possible lame duck GM. If you are going to clean house, clean house. At this point, they would have been better served to go into next season with Schwartz. None of the realistic coaching prospects this off-season were anything to write home about.
At this stage of the game, if I'm the Fords, I pick up the phone and see if Schottenheimer wants to end his retirement for a few seasons and then roll into a cushy front office job afterward. Yes, he's old as dirt, but he's the hard ass that this team needs at this point, and he's won everywhere he's been. Get him in there with a coach in waiting to take over after a few years.Comment -
