people posting about broke poker players have not a clear glimpse of the actual poker world. That saying is online true for LIVE TOURNAMENT players (the ones you see on ESPN) but not for live CASH game players or online CASH game players. I was a pro poker player online (also played live for 3 years), then online poker in the USA got shut down and I decided to go back to school. I made easily more than enough to make a living and buy a new car every year.

I know several online pros that avg over 350k+ a year. Check out two plus two forums, or http://www.highstakesdb.com/.

Off top of my head I can think of several online Germans and Americans, who have made an average of over 200k in the last 3 years. Some of these guys are college drop outs, 2 are math professors, some never even went to college - all are very smart.

Another poster mentioned Bob Voulgaris who is actually a very successful NL cash game player, I'm sure if someone tweeted to him he could easily name 20 poker pros that make over 500k/yearly.

Some of the biggest games now that I think of it are in Maccau, which the richest Chinese business men (Richard Yong to name one) who are worse than anyone in your home game.

cliffs: Not a majority or 3000, by definitely a large 3 digit number of poker pros make considerable coin.

You're right about one part. He made 95% of his money after getting to Vegas....but it damn sure wasn't made by betting sports. I know this for 100% fact.
