Texas isn't landing a mega name. Their "we're going after Jimbo" is prototypical coaching search talk. Fans know a booster, and both have over inflated views of self, and think they can get guys at the top of the food chain.

Not sure how much good Texas did to themselves in the way they shuffled Mack out the door...some coaches may not want to put themselves through that kind of crap. UT has a pretty high opinion of themselves, but to lure some big name coach away from their school at this time of year will be a trick. Getting someone like Saban, Fisher, etc. would almost be a pipe dream...but Charlie seems to be more destined for Florida when Muschamp gets whacked next year

Whoever they hire, they still have to get past the likes of Art Briles and Mike Gundy, unless one of those two gets the job. Gundy would be willing to leave, since he loses 15 starters to graduation in 2014. Oh yea. There is that guy in Norman. I think his name is Stoops. The new Texas HC is going to have his work cut out for him.Comment -

At this point, you get to see how greedy one of these fukkers really is - all the guys on the supposed list of candidates is already making bank and among the Top 15 or so highest paid coaches in the country. The question is are they greedy as fukk or content to be in what is a better spot making slightly less money.
The more I think about it, the more I think Briles is going to be the sleaze somewhere - be it Texas or the NFL. Franklin is still the #1 guy I think is going to wind up here. He's the guy who takes the biggest step up in stature with the move and would be parlaying an above average job at a mediocre program to a former power program.
The most interesting part of the hire is if Patterson has the balls to put his ear plugs in when it comes to the boosters at UT. There are a handful of boosters there who make major, major $$$$ contributions and were a big reason Mack Brown stuck as long as he did after his usefulness.Comment -
