Why is sports betting considered "gambling"?
It should be seen as an investment, paralleling the stock market

Blackjack is gambling. Sports betting is not.

For most people, it's gambling. For some, it's investing.

Not really. Buy the market or some funds and long-term you're gonna do fine.

The folks with their entire pensions in WorldCom and Enron would disagree strongly.

For those who know what they are doing it is seen as an investment.....for 90% of the SBR "coin flippers" on this site, it's pretty much a gamble.

What Christopher Columbus did in '1493 as he sailed the raging sea', be constituted as a gamble?

Turns out he hit the mother vein, 'EUREAKA!". Problem is he told all the Espanoles and that's when the hit the .

Blackjack is gambling. Sports betting is not.

With a screen name like "lovedarush" you are not exactly strengthening your argument. 99% of all sports bets made are placed by people who could not name 50% of the starting line up of the team in which they are "investing" . They are gambling, and if you just want to factor in house edge they are giving away a greater edge then blackjack players.

                          D2bets I agree with you.

For the record, I didn't say sports betting cannot be investing. It definitely can be and is for some.

But the stock market has never been gambling if you follow very simple advice over a long time horizon.

I got money on stocks, quite a lot of money, all i can say is, invest in stocks if you don't need your money for 4 or 5 years... eventually 90% of the time you will earn something. Just be very patient.
Right now I got stocks from Peugeot-Citroen, don't plan to sell before 2015 or 2016.

Simple, you're wagering on something you have 0% control over.

Yeah ok, keep telling yourself that. I see investing as a bit different than hoping to hit 55 percent of your plays.

this whole thread is a complete fail.

lmao at the guy who said "99% of bettors don't know players name in the starting line ups"

fuk you need to know players names the starting line ups for as long as you know the math and the #s(no not numbers on the jersey)/stats?
