Most underachieving NFL team this year????
Can't remember a year where there are so many major candidates.
Atlanta and Houston are the obvious top two. Washington to a much lesser degree. While it is no surprise that Dallas is gagging down the stretch, you have to put them in the mix given the wealth of talent. And while NY Giants weren't being discussed among the elite, no one envisioned 5-9 and playing as bad as they are.

I'd have to lean toward Houston with its 2-12 record....But geesh, Atlanta (4-10) was very close to going to going to the Super Bowl just 11 months ago.

You named all the main ones that we'd all agree on. I'd add maybe the Lions to the list. The amount of talent on that team is nuts.

Houston for mine easily. A supposed super bowl contender going 2-12 is impressive more than anything. Atlanta sucked but Matt Ryan had no one to throw to most of the season didn't he, their D was never that impressive. Giants would be another as they still have a decent team imo, well an average team but should be contending in that division.

Annoys me looking at that record as I managed to lose a bet on one of those Houston wins they had when San Diego choked away a big lead!

On the other end of the scale I wouldn't of picked Philly to be where they are, thought the Chiefs would be good but not 11-3 good same with the Panthers although I'm still not sold on them.

Agree with Detroit, given the level of talent on that team. I guess I just didn't put them on the list because well, they are Detroit and we have come to expect mediocrity at best. Will be interesting to see how the Lions play under a new coach next year.

Gotta be Detroit, atleast with Atlanta theyve been missing there two best wide outs, whats Detroits excuse for underachieving.

Harry Douglass no slouch though, Atlanta SHOULD have been a 9 or 10 win team this year.

Yeah but also dont forget Tony Gonzalez hasnt been playing all that great compared to last year either. Also Steven Jacksons been hobbled a good chunk of the season, unlike last year Micheal Turner who did a decent job for them at runningback.

Houston was my preseason pick to win the superbowl, I think that answers the question

Houston is the most underachieving for sure. Detroit probably 2nd.

I'd go with San Diego. Top 10 in both offensive yds per game and scoring defense and are probably going to miss the playoffs. Atlanta/Houston have certainly underpreformed, but San Diego has truly underachieved.
No more of that talk, or I'll put the leeches on you.
