Why are college football coaches getting paid so much?

Yeah I know they deal with kids but so do nfl guys. I can't believe the deal saban got. The guy could NOT cut it at the pro level but he is gonna get over 5 mil to coach children. Pretty sad state of afffairs. Like schools can't spend that money elsewhere.

if you pay them they will stay student athletes
i guess it is sad for the students who are good in college but don't go pro
but the system now has incentive for the students to quit school to go and get paid

Your comments show how little you know about college football or college football athletes. They days of the "Stupid" athletes are over. The game has become so complex most stupid kids get weeded out in high school. The defensive line if about the only place you can hide a kid who isn't at least of average intellegence. Offensive line play as well as any other offensive position is too detailed to learn for guys "with no brain" to play. Defenses are much more detailed and complex than they used to be. Alot of guys who are big and strong and can run can't cut it anymore because they aren't very smart. The majority of boys that you watch play on Saturdays are intellegent kids. They might not be eloquentspeakers who can think and reason. That's more than I can say for some posting in this thread.
