Just spoke with a friend in B'Ham Ala - Saban
His is a Bama grad and on top of this 'will he go , will he stay' thang

Ok... he knows nothing for certain like 99.9% of folks

Here is what he knows: Every newspaper in the South , radio sports talk and P2P convo is about Ala/Saban first then about Aub playing for the NC

He thinks that is Saban's plan

This will come as a shock to the 7 Longhorns fans who really thought he would go to Austin. Thank God this stupid shit is over.

Only fools thought it would end otherwise after Aub beat Ala

            You're wrong here ^

Many many people in Austin and elsewhere thought Saban would 'sell out'

Many people in Austin were drunk then. Almost 99% certain all the stories of Saban's wife looking for real estate in Austin were spun by Saban and his team to get this extension. Anyone who thought he's step down to a C-level conference and school compared to Bama was idiotic.

Phan36 , stop and think... Saban DID NOT need this 'going to Tex' thing to get an extension

Like it or not... Saban is Tops in his NCAAFB value - be it right or not

Saban is a headcase. I have little doubt he concocted a lot of the fiction surrounding this story. He got a nice bonus when Malzhan got his extension at Auburn .... left one less power player for UT to supposedly look at. Long story short, Texas is gonna end up with what they deserve most likely ... a C-level to B- level "name" like James Franklin to come in and boost the program. It's a smarter hire than the "sexy" big name BS people would throw around IMO.

Program would survive without Saban. That being said, glad he stayed. I like his philosophy and his personality. With all the talk about how Texas could buy him, people should have realized that U. Of Alabama can match them. Enrollments have soared in past 5 years --with over 40% being from out-of-state.
