Celtics +2 @ Nets
Why take the Nets in this spot. Well, for a couple of reasons. Celtics are on a 3-game win streak. They are 5-7 away playing a 2-6 Nets home team. The Nets are in disarray after the whole coaching ordeal, plus because of all the injuries. Why do Celtics not cover? They are coming off a huge win against the Knicks away where they were a huge public dog. They have covered their last 3 games. The Nets are coming off a win, but got murdered at home against the Knicks. Why is the line at Nets -2 then? Well, for one Pierce should be playing limited minutes tonight and Williams should be starting as well.
Now let's look at match ups. The Celtics front court consists of Sullinger and Bass. They are both basically 6'8. The Nets have two 7 footers in Lopez, and Garnett who are also much better. You have Joe Johnson against Bradley and Williams against Crawford. Only advantage Celtics have is their SF Jeff Green.
Besides all that, Garnett and Pierce both playing tonight for the first time against their former team at home. I think they come out tough. It's hard to find an NBA game where there is motivation. However, tonight their should be.
