Looking at his numbers, I will change my mind and go from a 'no" to 50-50.
66% win percentage is sick for a career.

Was pretty dominant for 5 or 6 years.

Tough call really, but definitely not automatic.

Once pitchers have shoulder problems it's the beginning of the end. He wanted to retire being reasonably one top instead of fading away. First ballot HOF? probably

I actually called this one when I watched him down the street here in spring training I bet against him almost every start he was horrid last spring. I made a thread before the year MLB season started saying he was finished

Halladay must really be hurt. he may not still be an ace, but he could still be effective in mlb if folks like bruce chen, barrt zito, and that bust for the Yankees, I can't think of his name, are still playing and participating in pitching rotations.

He will probably get into the HOF. He blossomed later in his career. I didn't realize he was a 16 year vet. He was the rock for all those years on terrible Blue Jays teams. It was fun to watch this guy pitch, that's for sure!

watched the interview on MLB network. Roy Halladay is a class act.
As far as i'm concerned he is the definition of an ACE.

He says he didnt want to do further damage to his arm and did not want to
                                have future surgeries.

He says he did his best during his career to respect the game and wants to leave baseball better off than
it was when he started playing.

Throwback pitcher in an era of set up men and closers. It's right that he retires in the best looking jersey in the majors.
