NCAA Basketball Play for Friday

I absolutely love this game tomorrow night. It should be a good game, but I really believe the better team will pull this one out at the end.

California Golden Bears -1

I have watched this Cal team a few times already this season and they're a VERY good basketball team and only going to get stronger as the season continues. Richard Soloman will have the tough task working the paint against the giant from UCSB, Alan Williams. Yes, they kid is a beast. Averaging 27.5 and 11 this season, he's torching the opposition inside. However, with Soloman back and healthy again, I think he could neutralize the dominant big man.

Cal's defense has been solid so far this season, allowing only 59 ppg in their 6 wins. The two loses, both on neutral counts were rough, albeit against quality teams in Dayton and Syracuse. According to KemPom, Cal has a Top 50 defense and Top 70 offense vs. a team from a much lower conference and skill set.

The number is short and it isn't for everyone. It has the feel of the "trap" game with this being Cal's first true road game of the season. I'm going to suggest the the Pac 12 team in this matchup for a hefty amount. No locks, GOY or any other horseshit, just a strong play IMO (whatever that means percentage wise to you)

Buddy of mine told me Cal under on the season total was the lock of the decade. I think he got it at 4, and I thought he was nuts. Missed that one.

Wanted to back Ucsb even tho they royally fukked me against the bruins few nights ago where they played the whole gm up or down a possession then managed to piss away a cover catchin 12 points (losing by 13).. Ucsb is a solid team but was hoping for at least +3.5 or 4. Can't really argue with ur play at that number. Gl

I agree, think it's going to be a tight game but Cal should pull away late. This def isn't a play against UCSB, just a play on a really great number at -1. Alford had tremendous things to say about this team after the UCLA game.

The 1 thing bout cal is while there defensive numbers solid the better teams they have played have put up good numbers and they are weak defending the trey which ucsb has 3 guys that can flat stroke it.. Ucsb ranks 4th I believe in effective fg percentage while facing the 19 toughest schedule and teams that avg rank is 24th in defensive efficiency so not sure cals 49th defense is gonna slow them down..clearly d is the concern for ucsb but again they have faced a lot of good offensive teams that prob skew their numbers a little.. Might take a long look at the total here, prob passing on a side unless cal does get bet up to 3 or 4 then not sure I can lay off..

That seems like reasonable guess to me.. I'm on my phone so I won't be able to give a rock solid number till I get home in bout a hour. Kenpom has it slightly lower but I think it will come at least where u at if not little higher, Strange how high the cal/uc irvine total was tho(147?) Irvine certainly runs w a little more pace but not nearly as talented offensively IMO..
