#2I like the hire, think he is a decent coach, as recruiting doesn't matter at USC, because they will get theirs even with a Pariah at the helm.
Sark doesn't know what comes after 8 in the win column. But I am sure he will find out shortly.
Problem is I doubt he wins a national title at USC, which is what the fanbase demands now.
Overall, the program was a dumpster fire. Maybe they can find their long term coach after Sark brings stability back.Comment -

#6Horrible hire.
He's 34-29 at Washington.
His best year was 8-4 in 5 years on the job.
He ran three different offenses in 5 years.
A dead junkie could recruit well at USC, so spare me the "he's a good recruiter" angle. Jim Mora is now officially THE BOSS in L.A.Comment -

#12Peterson straight turned down the USC job.Originally posted by SamDiamondESPN reporting Chris Petersen is your man in Seattle.
He isn't going to UDUB after that. Or at least I would be shocked. Only reason is geography.
I don't see it.
As the UDUB fan mentioned earlier in the thread, Mora is UDUBS best option.Comment -

Petersen has a kid who requires a lot of medical attention, and Children's Hospital in Seattle is where the kid goes for treatment now.
It would make it much easier for him and his family if they were in Seattle.
I am trying to find the audio link now.
Cowherd has it on his twitter now.
I'll post the link when the second I find it.Comment -

If this truly happens, UDUB is the winner.
Peterson is a helluva coach that has turned down big gig after big gig. Washington being a lot smaller gig than he has refused.
I'd be really happy for the PAC if this happens. This conference is stacking coaches right now, especially now that Kiffin is gone.Comment -

#16Always good.Originally posted by jjgoldThe key is how is USC's recruiting class??
As mentioned, a crack head could recruit 5 stars to USC. Hell, they would probably already have an in to many of the kids parents that way.
LA schools recruit themselves. JJgold could pull in a top 25 recruiting class at USC without ever leaving Jersey. The fact that everyone kept saying "well, Kiffin is an elite recruiter" was a slight at Kiffin.Comment -

Yeah, I hope he gets paid pretty well somewhere, since he left USC today, and it seems like he will.
Also, I'll be betting on your boys all season in pac-12 b-ball play.

#24Ironically it was a default avatar back when I registered. I am from Washington though and I follow the Huskies so at the time it only seemed fitting to choose it. I will say though that losing Steve "7 Win" Sarkisian definitely didn't hurt, I see it more as an opportunity for the UW to get back on it's feet with a new, improved coach. Sark's time was nearing an end and I think he knew it too. I just found it amusing that Ed gets boned by USC after picking up a Kiffin infested program and turning it into a bowl competitor this year.Originally posted by bubblebuttluvDamn, that sucks.

#28I think Sark did a pretty good job at UW. He had to deal with major injuries every year, way worse than most programs. If I was him, I wouldn't have left Seattle. Seemed like a good situation for him.
Happy for Peterson, I think he would have been the best option for USC with his ability to get LA kids to come up and play in freezing Boise, he could have monopolized SoCal over time IMO.
And stop thinking that USC has the same ring to it as it once did. Kiffin killed that rep all on his own. It's still really strong, but no longer the gold standard. What is the gold standard now in CA? I don't know, but when programs like UCLA, Zona, ASU, Stanford improve like they have, not to mention every other Pac-12 school digging people out of there, you're not going to get the best SoCal talent every year anymore, you're just not. People around here act like it's still the Leinart/Bush/Snoop Dogg days.
Orgeron did the right thing. Got away from that slimy program that didn't give him the respect he deserved, and used this year to springboard him back into a HC job for a program that wants him as their #1. Tough to say how well he'll do, he did a great job at USC but awful at Ole Miss. No matter how well/poorly he does, his recruiting rep will always land him a job somewhere.Comment -
