Almost always have between 100-500 on my person depending on day of week and such

I carry a $2 bill folded up in my wallet. Oftentimes, that's the only cash I have on me.

If they don't take the Amex black card, I go somewhere that does.

This. I am pissed if I can't find a place that takes cards. I will buy a pack of gum to get over min cc purchase if am buying a newspaper at the gas station - anything to get those miles/points. The free international first class flights I can take every year because I do that outweigh any cost of trying to find a place to accept the card. Only time I have a decent amount of cash in wallet is when I pay for a group meal on my card and everyone gives me cash - and then its only in there until I get home and put it on our petty cash drawer that we use for local school kids selling whatever fund raising things they do.

Favorite story - as OT as this is - United was running a deal a few years ago that every second use of the card with a Mileage Plus dining partner was worth 500 miles. I found a bar that was part of the Mileage Plus deal and sat there with my buddy closing out after each beer and having them run my card for people paying cash, me keeping the cash etc. Racked up 10,000 miles that night. Wife was pissed when i got home but to this day I say it was worth it.

Last year I spent 25k on cards. Got $500 back just for spending money that I was going to spend. Cards paid off completely each month. Wish I could pay car note and rent on there too.

This is all great, but most people on this site do not have the disciple to bet less than 5% of their bankroll let alone rack up debt on a card and pay it off each month.

I can't be serious that banks pay me to use them? Actually I am serious, I've never paid a bank fee or overdraft fee in my life, yet the bank has paid me over years HUNDREDS of dollars. Less than $200, I feel poor.
More than $400, then I got to go pay a bill early or 2 months(cable/phone/internet/CC) ahead of time.

I guess my answer is two to four hundred.
Unless if I'm around women and children.

The OP's question was whether or not you carry around more than $100 cash, not whether you carry enough for a pack of marlboro reds or a mcdouble you fukkin hamburger.

Depends what you do. Walking around money? $40 max because I have a DC. When I go to play poker twice a week I carry 3-5k going and anywhere from $0 to 10k coming back.

Honest tip: All you guys carrying a Benjamin or two for emergencies should be aware that many places don't accept $100 bills and in an emergency, there may not be someone around willing to make change. You're far better off with a couple $20's.
