I thought Drexel was light as a -4 favorite and they are still only -4.5. This is a team that went toe-to-toe with UCLA at Pauley opening night and then won by eight in Missouri Valley country at Illinois State. The next win that Elon gets over a decent team will be the first one in memory. Yes the Phoenix won 21 games last year, but NONE came vs. a team that finished higher than 192nd on Pomeroy. This year they started 2-0, but the wins came vs. shitty Marist and something called Washington & Lee (did Elon play 5-on-2?). Then with a chance to validate those wins vs. a quasi-decent team, they lost by 14 to Charlotte.

It's also important to note that Elon has been playing without their All-SoCon guard, Jack Isenbarger. With him returning tonight, I like Elon +4.5.

They are a typical Bruiser Flint team, they play very good defense but scoring points can be like pulling teeth. They don't turn the ball much over though, starting three seniors and two juniors helps there.

Meh, it doesn't matter much because Drexel is better than Charlotte. Ultimately Phoenix lost that game because they got killed on the boards, they don't figure to get many second chances tonight either.

The Charlotte game was one of the worst homers I've seen. Elon lead with nine minutes to go by about 5 if memory serves me right. The officials decided at that time that Elon was not going to get a win and the free throws were literally something like 22-0 from that point on. Can you imagine leading by 5 and not getting another free throw in the final eight minutes?

Final free throw count was 33-6. Elon outplayed them on their home court.

I recognize a lot of names still on Drexel's roster from 2 years ago when they were one of the most intriguing teams in the country, and without question got snubbed from the NCAA tourny. Is memory serves, they split with VCU, and lost in the Championship in the last second, with thatt being the year VCU went to the Final Four. Fouch, Massenat, Lee and Ruffin were all key contributors 2 years ago and still around.
