    HABS overpay for Schneider
    They are desperate!!!

The Atlanta Thrashers have traded defenceman Mathieu Schneider to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for a second round draft pick in 2009 and a third round selection in 2010.

    WOW are they ever desperate.

I think thats a good trade for them, they need some veteran leadership and Schneider can still play.

if habs don't end this losing streak soon, it will be the end of Guy Carbonneau in montreal. 3 weeks ago, carbonneau was a god here, and had the most secure job in sports as head coach.. and now could be without work if he dont win soon.. In montreal, if you don't win for a period of time, you are unemployed. this city demands a lot and always want a winner or it's trouble. mtl is toughest city to coach in hockey.. too much pressure.

If Pat Burns was healthy, he would do wonders for this Montreal team.

Geesh, who's older,Schneider or Chelios? They are friggin my age!Why not trade for Claude Lemioux and Mike Keene and tons of other ex Habs on bar league teams and minor, minor hockey.I think Gaston Gingrau plays on a firemans league team in North Bay,Ontario.Maybe Rick Natress and Gump Worseley and Elfie Turcotte would show up for a tryout.Just put old timers game on the marquis in front of the arena.Chris Nylan in a metal walker would be fun to watch fighting guys that would whoop his ass.Sometime if you ever watch an old Habs game and a porno with Aunt Peg in it tell me they aren't the same person.Maybe they could dig up John Kordick out of the ground for an enforcer.I heard they tried contacting goalie Bunny La roque but they found out he died 20 years ago.Only in Quebec could a pro sports player get away with having a first name like Bunny.Wasn't that the name of Sergeant Carter's girlfriend in Gomer Pyle?

wow brent, that was pretty awesome.. i doubt more than 1 poster will understand your post here. you brought back some great memories there with all those names. you must be a diehard habs fan, or from close by in canada, maybe ontario... no way any american can just post what you posted. you just named every habs player from the 80s.. too bad you didn't mention my childhood buddy Sergio Momesso, who played with these guys at this time.. we grew up together and inseparable to age 12. he got drafted in 83, one spot behind Claude Lemieux, who is still playing.

Yeah, I agree they gave up too much for a 40 year old defenseman who is way past his prime.

They're desperate to stop the slide. If they don't snap out of it, they're going to slide right out of the playoffs.

Montreal is the only chance a Canadian team has in the east of making the playoffs so I hope Schneider can help the Habs out....

The Ducks traded Schneider to Atlanta Ding Dong.

He will help out, but they gave up too much for him. There are younger and just as capable dmen available IMHO.
