#47Horse players although way more banged up than sports bettors
Go to a track or OTB and you will see the most pathetic people you will ever see
They are poison, scabs, dirts, etc
If you like seeing real old cars go to a race track parking lot
Nobody wants to be around a horse bettorComment -

#48Not every game is for everyone.
During my time at the track, for the most part, the game was really good to me.
I ultimately left for a handful of reasons but one big one was the surge of new drugs that there was no test for yet being used by a small minority of trainers starting in the 90's. It has since gotten MUCH better .
It stained the game for me.
And nothing pissed me off more than getting beat a head by a trainer whose vet I watched cheat in the receiving barn 2 hours earlier. When I went to the Stewards ( and they were all friends of mine and had been for years) and explained this in detail, they said there was very little they could do because the test would not show the drug. It was NOT a drug that necessarily made a difference, it was simply a bleeding deterrent and nothing more,BUT it was being given within the forbidden time period. That made it illegal !
When I left the Stewards stand that afternoon I knew I was done.
Eight months later , I left the game.
But, I still love the game and respect it so much.
It's the small minority that ruined it for me, but again, it was NOT the sole reason I left.
My Q and A thread in the horse racing forum is there for all to see if you want to learn more. And feel free to ask a question if you care too.Comment -
