    NFL Arrests Database
    NFL Arrests Database

    Overview

These are arrests and citations involving NFL players since 2000 that were more serious than speeding tickets. U-T San Diego reviewed hundreds of news reports and public records in compiling it. The list cannot be considered comprehensive in part because some incidents may not have been reported and some public records proved to be elusive. Increased media coverage of incidents also probably accounts for more incidents listed in recent years.

    Using the database

Use the search box below to filter by team, position or name or just click on the title of any column of the full list to sort the database by that column. After filtering, to return to the full list, just leave the search box blank and click the submit button.

This thread is stupid because the arrest rate in the NFL is pretty much on a par with the arrest rate of any other profession.
I linked those stats a few months ago in another related thread.

                Phew!

No gambling charges, so no real crime was committed.

Hey guys...let's get this thread going again now that the season is back and in full swing...There should be plenty of arrests coming....

                        Everyone knows about Ray Rice....

I'll add Alan Branch DT for the Bills....He was out drinking the night before the last preseason game at the strip clubs...He got arrested for DWI...My friend who is a cab driver actually picked him up at a police substation, and took him home...It was around 5am...Branch actually then wanted my buddy to drive him somewhere to get something to eat but my buddy said, "No, you need some sleep you got a game tomorrow", lol...

Branch was scratched from the game, and released by the Bills a day or two later voiding the 9 million 3 season deal he just signed...He is now sitting at home not playing...

According to fivethirtyeight.com, NFL players have a significantly lower arrest rate than average for males in the same age range, across the board for types of arrests.

Last week, the NFL suspended Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice for two games over an incident in which Rice was charged with knocking his fiancee (now wife…

Keep in mind, at any time there are about 2,500 players attached to teams at any given time. And then consider the high turnover. That's a lot of players. It's hardly surprising that there are going to be arrests among a large population of males in their 20's. Not excusing any of this, but it may be a mistake to think there's really some specific epidemic here.

A Seattle fans annoy me so much. I'm tired of them being heard of as a 12th man. They are average fans with a stadium to enhance their cheers. You can't believe how loud it is but it's all about the overhang that captures their cheers. They have ugly uniforms and they think they are badass.

49er's player's wife grabbed gun in argument

There is more interest in 49ers defensive end Ray McDonald than usual, which is why police released details of a second domestic incident at McDonald's house.

Not excusing any of this, but it may be a mistake to think there's really some specific epidemic here.
I don't know if I'm buying that one at all...There is definitely something going on with the character of NFL players...You definitely don't see these many arrests and problems with the law in the NHL or MLB...

Clearly there is an issue with violence/crime in the nfl.

It appears that it ties to a larger systemic issue with the inner city and rural poor blacks. (Who are by far the largest demographic)

I would say say that this is an issue of poverty more than race.

The solutions are clear to anyone with a brain.

Quit breaking up families with these absurd drug laws. Quit sending off the jobs that these "lazy shines" used to do to the third world to increase your stock price.

these are a few of the solutions to solve the problems plaguing poor communities both white, black and others.

It IS about the race issue. This has nothing to do with taxation or poverty. It's about the mentality of the players and the race. Yea, Race is an ugly subject. But I'm a nobody so I can say it however many times I want. It's about the Race, Race, and Race.
