Golden Nugget keeps giving me free rooms 2-3 days at a time. Can’t stop sending emails. My dad is in town this week and we are going.

#5682Jay, props on the long-running Vegas thread. SBR needs more guys like you.
Open-ended question: *How does one make $$ in Vegas nowadays.
I'll give me own retort on that:
1) Coupon books. If you pick up a few coupon books, I'm sure you can carve out $200+ in EV with little risk.
2) Downtown deals. Bobbyfk told me that Downtown casinos give $50 in Free Play just by presenting your Airplane Ticket.
3) As for Gaming? Good Luck:
*Poker at 20% rake.
*Blackjack rules are now terrible.
*Sports Betting: sharp #s and inflated juice.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#5683Yeah, with 6/5 BJ & triple zero roulette...the pits are terrible.
20%poker rake makes it nearly impossible to stay ahead.
Slots are never the right call.
I guess just keep picking winners in the sports book & you'll be alright.Comment -

What was written forty years ago remains the same.
You'll have a fighting chance of turning a profit in craps by just playing the front or back lines (pass and don't) and by staying away from the exotics.
Same goes with blackjack, play single and double decked games if possible, and be card aware (like paying attention the aces and ten count cards) don't play at tables that only pay 6:5 for naturals, find a table that pays 3:2
Avoid at all costs tables that allow the dealer to hit a soft seventeen and pay attention to the split/re-split and double down table rules.
Baccarat if you keep it simple one can turn a profit.
I stay far away from the roulette tables.
Personally, I find all these changes in favor of the house downright insulting.Comment -

#5691I was in Vegas a couple weeks ago and the tables on the strip are awful. Continuous shuffle decks, 6:5 almost everywhere but high limit and I found nowhere that stood on soft 17. They’re printing money and they know it. Plus the rooms on the weekend are sky high. I’m trying to book rooms for a few Raider games and the prices are ridiculous. It’s becoming a huge turnoff, how they are fleecing customers but people will keep paying it.Originally posted by stevenashYep.

1) Table games: very difficult. To your point, House has ratcheted back all the rules.
2) Poker: tough b/c of the rake.
3) Sports: MAYBE. But one can now (probably) do that in his home state.

Plus all the mergers and acquisitions have made it nearly impossible to walk the strip. They’ve torn down the small boutique casinos, so it takes you 45 minutes to walk from one to another in the heat. I’m taking an Uber from Ceasar’s to the Venetian. Or maybe I’m just too old to walk.
