There might be a couple places around the country that are still employing shills and/or props for poker but this hasn't been going on for some time... There are some 100%+ rakeback "prop" deals available online at some smaller sites but, given the current environment, probably not the safest locations to have your money ATM...

I live in sacramento, ca. Every cardroom here employs between 3-10 prop players. They are paid anywhere from $20-$30 a hour to play limits ranging from 1/2 NL to 5/10NL. You buy in with your own money and you keep all winnings and eat all loses. your basically just being paid to play poker. These are not " shills" they are inserted to either start up a table or keep a table from breaking.

I did this for a few months but the salary paid is very bad in terms of the type of games you play in. Generally you will play hours into a very bad and dead game. When the tables are full with action players props are not needed. They are needed during slow hours. When your playing 5/10 NL $30 a hour isnt worth playing 4 hours into a 6 handed dead game posting $15 in blinds every 10 minutes.

Your not allowed to be good. Think about it, they pay you to hangout down there for 40 hours a week, they are going to pick a guy that is a straight mush that will never figure out winning ways.

He could have just looked on the first page for bad grammar instead of going back six years.
