Oregon has endless uniform combinations, enough to take them through another 1,300 years. But, it looks like their fresh looks may be put on hold for a bit.
One of the big reasons people love (or hate) the University of Oregon’s football program is because of the seemingly endless uniform combinations the team has.
The team never would be caught dead in the same uniform twice in a season, and had plenty of options between each uniform piece to have a new outfit for each game of the season. However, according to Oregon head coach Willie Taggart, that trend may be changing.
Taggart said at the Pac-12 Media Day that the team wouldn’t feature a new uniform for each game of the season and would cut back on the options, bucking the trend that they’ve been following for the last few seasons.
“We’re going to be sharp,” Taggart said. “But you won’t see as many different combinations. We want to play football. Those uniforms are really nice when you have a really good football team.”
Back in 2015, the USA TODAY reported the team could wear enough different uniform combinations that they could have no repeats until the year 3344, with 12,780 different combinations of jerseys, pants and helmets.
The bold uniforms and different combinations worked when the team was appearing in the National Championship Game with Marcus Mariota as their starting quarterback and a talented team to work with, but it doesn’t exactly fit the bill for the Ducks now (no pun intended).
The team went 4-8 last season, and, like Taggart said, playing better football needs to be the Ducks’ priority. On the other hand, as the saying goes, “you look good, you play good.”
While we won’t be seeing endless new combinations and fresh looks, cutting back could also be pretty small. Who knows? Maybe cutting back in Taggart’s mind is recycling one look from one of the team’s previous games at one point in the year to save some extra bucks.Comment -
Taggart is right. If those pot smoking idiots at Oregon worried more about their tanking team, and less about those awful uniforms and stujpid Mascot, they would be a lot better off. Ha! Who do you think you're kidding? Taggart didn't even coach that bowl game. Even if he did, South Carolina was left in a mess by Spurrier and was awful last year. South Florida was a 10 point favorite in that game and barely snuck by with a win. Why would you brag about that bowl game?
South Florida is a huge school in a second rate conference. You're supposed to win there!
