SBR Contest Platform Update : Nominated Post

Attention SBR Members,

As we gear up to move onto our new and improved contest platform, there are a couple things that need to be done in preparation for the launch:

First, the old data pipeline that powers odds for legacy contests and the sportsbook will be turned off next week - targeting Tuesday, January 17th.

What does this mean? No new contests will run on the legacy platform now that Beat the Bullseye has finished. All other existing contests between members have concluded with winners’ points paid out.

This also means wagers in the sportsbook & trivia will no longer be available. Over the past year, it has become apparent that the existing system is not sustainable to continue operating with. It was built on ancient code and ultimately, investing in a new contest platform is a much more practical solution.

Secondly, all outstanding sportsbook balances will be transferred over to members’ forum wallets. This will not be completed right away. The sportsbook will remain accessible for members to login and make the transfer themselves if they wish. However, any balances not transferred by the end of January will be done automatically.

With that in mind, members should try to use their remaining free play points in the sportsbook as soon as possible.

We are very excited to transition to a modern, reliable contest platform. The flexibility to run unique daily, weekly & season-long contests with betpoint integration will unlock new opportunities that were not possible on the old system.

We will follow up in this thread once the checklist items above have been completed.

You've been telling us for over a year that you are working on a new, improved, modernized SBR. You've given no dates as to when any of this will happen. All that has happened so far is that you have one by one taken away the things that worked here and that people liked. What makes it unsustainable? and if it truly is, then surely after 15 months you have the new improved system ready to roll out as soon as you shut down the old system. Why wouldn't you, any 5th grader could tell you that would be the way to do it. I strongly doubt that this is actually the case though. You haven't added a single new and improved feature here in 15 months despite your repetitive claims of that being your goal. You've taken all of the trust and goodwill the posters had toward SBR and flushed them down the toilet. The onus is now on you to rebuild that trust and goodwill if you want this site to continue being vibrant.
