    Young Better Than Montana
I think Steve Young was a better QB than Joe Montana.
I have always thought this and have had many arguements
about this. I was wondering if anyone agrees with me??

    Steve Young
    _______

    COMP 2983-ATT-4709 -YDS 33,124 -PCT %63.3
    TD 232-INT107-QB RATING 96.8- RUSHING YDS 4,239

    Joe Montana
    _______

    COMP 3409 -ATT 5391 -YDS 40551 PCT % 62.2
    TD-273 INT-139-QB RATING 92.3-RUSHING YDS 1.676

After seeing those stats I'd like to someone disagree??

remember there is facts and opinions.............

Young more of a dual threat, but Montana has 4 rings and one thing some people dont remember is that Montana won his 1st ring without the greatest WR ever in Rice. The best thing for Young was to actually learn from Joe and how to master the west coast O.

Well I understand the arguement of montana bring better, and trust I
would say maybe 80% of people I say that to disagree I have made
half of them realize when you look at the better passer rating 96.8 to
92.3 and the fact that Steve Young was the white Michael vick. Almost
3,000 more rushing yards. Young had to play good teams like Cowboys,
Packers, etc. Montana didn't play against that creamy crop.

I've always been a Steve Young hater. He's choked away a lot of big games. If not for Barry Switzer, he wouldn't have a Super Bowl ring.

I will say this, I was a huge Steve Young fan. I lived in Monterey during the time that I really started getting into the NFL so the 49ers became my team. I love both Joe and Steve. Joe is mythological. Steve was simply great. Something that must be considered though is that Bill Walsh was the mind behind it all. He invented an offense that completely redefined the NFL and Joe had the talents and skills to take complete advantage of it. By the time Steve got his opportunity the league was more familiar and better adjusted to the WC style. I don't think there can really be any argument about whether or not Steve was more talented. That is born out by the stats IMG has provided. This argument is similar to the Bill Russell v Wilt Chamberlain argument in the NBA. Bill's greatness can be most attributed to his system whereas Wilt was just an unstoppable force as an individual. That's why Bill and Joe have more rings but Steve and Wilt receive more accolades.

Good point, isetcap. Steve Young is the Wilt Chamberlain of the NFL. I wonder how the bedpost notches compare.

Well he is a direct relative of Brigham Young so he's allowed to take them all as wives!

I just imagine you lounging on your couch with your laptop next to you with your eyes all bloodshot. You look over to one of your girls who's asleep and you say "Bitch, go make me another Mojito! I need to cap some playoff games. Don't give me any lip ho, who pays the bills around here and keeps you in those fine clothes? Look at that, mutherfukkin isetcap just wrote another idiot post..."

I always find it somewhat hard to judge QB's because television doesn't really show their options. Montana had a rare elegance. A little more and what he and Rice put on the field would have been ballet. Young was more of a fighter. Very good, but not quite up there with the absolute icons of the sport. One main difference? Young made it look like hard work; Montana made it look effortless. Isn't that what makes a master?

Young certainly did have an ability to make it look at least as hard as it actually was. I'm not sure elegance determines mastery though. In many of Joe's finest moments he didn't necessarily look elegant but he definitely got the job done and ultimately that was why he was a master of the game.
