SBR's Gary Pearson previews the matchup in his early Rams vs Jaguars prediction:

    Jaguars +3 (-102 DraftKings)

"There are a couple of decisive factors in backing the Jaguars to cover as the 3-point betting underdog, the most important of which revolves around Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua's ankle injury.

Rams head coach Sean McVay said after their win against the Baltimore Ravens that the NFL's leader in receiving yards entering Week 6 might not win the race against time.

I don't expect Nacua to play, as unless their star receiver is 100% healthy, they will err on the side of caution. Nacua, who was on an NFL record-breaking pace before the injury, accounted for 39% of Matthew Stafford's passing yards through the first six games.

While Davante Adams would step into Nacua's No. 1 role seamlessly, the drop-off in productivity and ability thereafter is disconcerting.

Tutu Atwell, the team's third-most productive receiver entering Week 6, missed the Ravens game due to a minor hamstring pull. He'll probably return, but will there be any residual rust, and will he feature in as many snaps as usual?

Otherwise, the Jaguars should find more joy on the ground in a better matchup than against Seattle. Before facing the Seahawks, the Jaguars had the sixth-best offensive rushing DVOA. Compare that to the Rams' middling 15th-ranked defensive rushing DVOA before they faced the Ravens in Baltimore, where they were gashed for 179 yards."

SBR's Mike Spector is eyeing the total in his Rams vs Jaguars picks:

      Under 44.5 (-104 Caesars)

"Matthew Stafford is 11-0 against teams that field a bottom-five pass defense like the Jaguars since being traded to the Rams in 2021. But Jacksonville's unit is also an opportunistic defense that leads the league with 14 takeaways and allows 20 points per game, which is on pace for the club's fewes since 2018.

Rams leading receiver Puka Nacua is trending toward missing this game with an ankle injury, as his outlook is pessimistic after missing multiple practices.

The impact of Nacua’s presence cannot be understated, as he leads the team in receptions (54) and receiving yards (616). His 57 touches are also more than double that of No. 2 wide receiver Davante Adams (26).

Los Angeles is 12-5 with a healthy Nacua over the last two seasons, while its quarterbacks have totaled a 30:7 passing touchdown-to-interception ratio. The team's signal-callers have also taken sacks just 4% of the time while averaging a plus-4.9 Offensive EPA per game.

However, the Rams are 2-4 without Nakua, and their quarterbacks are posting a 4:4 passing touchdown-to-interception ratio. They've also taken sacks 9% of the time while averaging a minus- 0.8 offensive EPA per outing.

Adams and Stafford need to work on their chemistry if he becomes the primary target by default, as the quarterback has been off target on 30% of the passes thrown the receiver's way this season.

Neither team holds great momentum heading into this game. The Jaguars are coming off season lows in points, yards, and rushing yards, while the Rams put up lows in yards, passing yards, and first downs during last week’s win."

Rams traveling SAT from the east coast. Apparently stayed East after BAL. Travel and time zones very important.
