To be perfectly honest, he had 2 bad throws against baltimore last week - and made 5-6 'pro bowl arm' plays. He's really impressive.

I watched the tape again from the SD/Balt game (hehe, 3 times..I really wanted to break down how SD attacks with so much success against such great Ds) - and it came down to Rivers missing his receiver 35 yds down field by a foot in the 4th Q.

Sure he didn't win the game - but that showed me a LOT. Baltimore threw hooks and roundhouses all game from D and SD threw back stiff shots to the body. They JUST misssed the knockout by a foot.

That all said, once Rivers got rhythm, tonight (the O, in general, was flat) that team became incredible - even with conservative playcalling (lol 41 pass attempts)... Very well called game, though.

I really think Marty is doing his best coaching job in years right now... It's impossible to ask a 1st year starter to do the things he is of Rivers. He's not being "Marty" conservative, either. he takes a LOT more shots down the field than he ever did with Brees. It's just Rivers' "mid-range" throws are in need of some consistency... But he's shown he can make those throws, either with touch, power and accuracy. Seriously, he looks like a seasoned vet.

Overall, Rivers is showing the most potential, IMO, of all the QBs from that draft. it's a great debate, as Big Ben has a ring... But that kind of debate is something over beers in a decade or so.

That all said, Marty outcoached Cowher and the Chargers flat-out outplayed Pitt. It was a heluva game, though. One of the best of the year, even with the slow start. Rivers, IMO, has to be in the top 10 right now for MVP voting. Call me crazy, but he's 1 play from being undefeated...
And the LT/Turner combo is just so nasty, it transcends the 'MVP' status.

            Agree on SD.
You won't get to lay as few as 3 with them at home again for a long time.

IMO PIT has big year-long problems that show no signs of dissipating. It might be a couple more profitable weeks before that really sinks into the public consciousness.

They are not going to win many matchups at the QB spot the rest of the way.

well after a tough start, guess Rivers settled down and played really good. SD rallied under him and won.
