    How to place larger wagers?

I’m curious how people scale up and place larger wagers. I’m still placing small wagers ($10-$15 per unit) and I’m already limited on 3 sites, despite not having made any money on some of those sites even. Eg. I deposited $100 on Parx, lost it, deposited another $100, dropped to $50 and now back to $100 but they limited all my bets to under $10. Luckily, I live 30 minutes from Parx but it’s hard to do top down betting in person unless you’re there all day and waiting on opportunities.

Haven’t had any issues on offshore sites yet. Exchanges like ProphetX and Novig say they won’t limit but there’s also liquidity issues where there’s less than $10 available on the current line sometimes.

How do professionals place larger bets? Do they have to/can they rely on offshore sites? Do they place bets in person? Do they rely on beards? Won’t the beards get limited after a few bets too?

What exactly do you mean by top down down betting?

If you are mostly betting slow moving, off market, or error lines just about every book will limit you, winner or not.

Ah yeah, that's what I meant. I thought that is how a good portion of professional sports bettors make a living (Eg. Isn’t that what Spanky is known for?) If not, is the only way to originate your own lines better than the market? Even so, don't you beat the market to the line and bet slower moving/off market lines anyway?

I'm genuinely curious how sports bettors can make money long term and place larger bets. I've seen guys at the physical sportsbook place $10k to $30k in wagers. If they're winning players, wouldn't they get limited after winning a few sharp bets? I'd imagine they've lost money long term to the casino and so the casino happily books their action.

In theory you can do it, but as you have found it really is tougher in practice for the average person.

I don't have all the answers about how Spanky might do it but I imagine it's a combination of big bets making him more interesting to a book, maybe if he is really good and bets openers they see him as good information, maybe some offshore agents or beards. You probably know most of the methods, just takes time and contacts and sometimes a reputation as a big bettor to have the right books/agents reach out to you with offers.
