    Neb AT Missouri
How is MO a 5 point fave with 5 players out? One of which is leading scorer? Think i should pound this early taking neb on the ML.

where did you see that line, its not even up at the greek yet and they usually beat most books to posting lines??

If the line is -5 I can think of a few reasons why.....

Nebraska has played horribly on the road this year....

they just got utterly dismantled by Kansas, so the public is probably fading them bigtime, which affects the opening line....

and as a little less of a solid reason, suspensions has seemed to be the theme of this year's season and the trend to follow that has been the teams missing players rallying around each other for an inspirational performances without their bigtime players (see Uconn recently, and Va Tech giving duke a decent struggle the other week), So these suspensions probably aren't swaying the opening line as much as they normally would....

Also, I think Mizzu is considered a very solid team on their home court, they almost pulled out a win vs. Kansas recently, and big twelve in conference games are battles so the spread is usually tighter than one would expect....

You also got to consider what an opening line is by a book.... they are not saying they think Mizzu is 5 points better than Nebraska without the 5 suspended starters, they put it at -5 because they know all the concepts I mentioned above are floating around in the public mindset and Mizzu -5 will get a balanced flow of bets on both sides....

think about it, if they set the line where we all think it legitimately should be at like Nebraska as a slim fav on the road, or something like that, they will not get anything close to even money on both sides, by placing the line where it is they will get public money on Mizzu playing on emotional and long run irrational concepts and get the sharps on the side of Nebraska and get their profit by the balanced bets....

All that rambling being said, If you really like Nebraska I would grab it now, because that line will probably drop fast all day tomorrow, when smart money playing the long run angles pounce it as you plan to....

My only word of caution is this.... Nebraska really has looked awful at times this season, and just remember last saturday, no one with knowledge of the Uconn suspensions saw that result coming, the line jumped 3 points by tip off when word got around about the suspensions and Indiana was really owned by the short manned Uconn....

But with what we know, I think I would also jump on Nebraska plus 5 pretty quickly, but I just wouldn't bet the house on it

hope this was at least a little thought provoking in making the play, but who knows bro, maybe I am the square and everything I said is useless....

Never bet the house on a single game. I was on UConn so i know about that, but 5 players is HUGE. The bench will be what 7 deep at most.
Like the Neb here. Looked solid to start the year but has since faded. Neb is still a decent team, just havent shown much. Going to put 2 units on NEb +5

i don't think you can fault that play at all orange, even if Mizzu somehow pulls a miracle out, it's still the smart play

i might tease Nebraska up to +12
              with

              Texas +9 1/2
and tease down Mich St -2

              or something like that

I think you missed the boat if you like Nebraska - opened +9.5 at Cris. It's still Nebraska we're talking about, and even with the suspensions, Mizzou has players who can score - mainly Carroll and the Lawrence's. Often when teams go through situations like this they are even more motivated and turn in a superior effort.

Got it at +5 at Wsex, already dropped to 4. Worthy of a play for me simply because I feel Neb best ball is ahead of them.

i think this is a perfect game to tease because the likelyhood of nebraska losing by more than ten is negligent. if nebraska wasn't so awful on the road then i would consider a straight up bet, but considering the info out there, i would either tease it or not touch it at all.

it's their leading scorer and four other players plus their mind set on being focused must be tested...perfect game to tease up to +11.5...

I like Nebraska here (despite my moniker)

I don't get this line at all. The biggest thing to keep in mind here is Mike Anderson's style of play, which is his version of Nolan Richardson's 40 minutes of hell. Mizzou runs up and down the court like crazy, and because of that they must make a lot of substitutions. I just don't see how a team that plays that style of ball can lose five of their top ten players and remain competitive. Yeah, Nebraska is bad, but it's not like Mizzou has been great this year.

The one thing that keeps me from going big on Nebraska is that Mizzou's best two players are still playing -- DeMarre Carroll and Keon Lawrence. Carroll has been consistent on the inside all year, and Keon is one of the most talented young players in the conference, but he has really struggled at times. I could see him using a situation like this to finally step up and show the potential that a lot of people feel he has. Also, Matt Lawrence is a liability in most aspects of the game, but he can be a deadly three point shooter. If he gets hot he could keep Mizzou in it. All of that being said, Nebraska is definitely the play here.

Great game to pass on for me. Not knowing how a team will react to adversity is one of the biggest $$ burners in my book. Mizzou could get smoked or they could ban together and continue to play well at home. GL to yooze guys.

theres a couple barnburners in there w/ nebraska and texas but mizzou is losing 39.6 points a game, 12.19 rebounds a game, and 11.8 assists a game so i have to take the points in nebraska and i just have a gut feeling about texas winning this game outright...they are due up for a rival road win
