16-0 Vanderbilt (-1) at Kentucky 01/12/08

I am trying to make sense of this one. I know Kentucky is a tough place to play, but this Kentucky team isn't all that good. Plus they have 3 players that are either Questionable or Probable (will have in the injury report tonight).

Even though I have Kentucky set at a -1, do they really have a shot at winning this game?

Rupp is always worth a few points for the home team but Vandy was a sleeper last year and better this year. I like this play.

I don't know if they are underrated. Barely beat South Carolina and struggled against UMASS.

The complete opposite is true. Vandy's played two road games all year (Toledo, DePaul). They will miss Byars immensely as their schedule gets more difficult. Vandy's easily the most overrated team currently in the top 25. 6 of their next 8 are on the road... fade away.

As for the UK game, Id lean Kentucky, but I'll be passing. I do, however, hope Vandy wins by 30 so I can get a nice number for Vandy's trip to Knoxville next Thursday, a game Tennessee wins by 15+.

I don't see how you get better when you lose your best player (Byars) and your most steady guard (Cage). Sure, Ogilvy can play and Foster's a very nice player, but this team isn't better than last season's squad. This is just nowhere near the 12th best team in the country. They're a team with a significant home court edge, and they've benefited greatly from a generous schedule consisting of 12/16 home games. Wake played them down to the wire, So. Alabama forced OT against them, and UMass outplayed them for 30 min. before tiring down the stretch. This is a team in for a fall the next couple weeks. Stallings has done a great job turning around that program, but Vandy won't be making another run in the tourney this March.

I'm locked on Vandy +1. Kentucky will stick with them for a while but Vandy pulls away in the end and wins this game by 6 or 7 IMO. Vandy is the better team right now and Kentucky has a few players banged up.

Public is OVERWHELMINGLY on the Vandy side. That is the only thing that makes me a little nervous. On paper, Vandy should roll.
