if u havent noticed arizona puts as many players into the league as anyone and i mean anyone. Az players have some of the biggest contracts and dominate the league. arenas, bibby, jason terry, richard jefferson, luke walton, damon and salim stoudamire, steve kerr, sean elliot, angre igoudala,

chase budinger is projected as the #4 pick this year and bayless is projected as #9 and was rivals freshman of the week with 26 points

Kevin O'Neil was caught by 2 recruits who said in interviews here in the St.Lois area that he lied to them both saying that they didn't have starters at those positions, when they clearly had 2 at the time on each different occasion.

While I don't think O'Neill is a great coach and know nothing about off-court stuff, the team is definitely playing more to its ability at this point than it was in the first couple weeks of the season. I don't think Lute was exactly a master tacticion. I'd venture to say he's pretty much retired at this point. Why would you screw with something at that age if you've got other shit going on?

Arizona has gone to 22 straight ncaa tourneys under lute olson. that is currently the record and will continue this season.

This certainly sheds some light as to why he left his team.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Divorce papers have been filed seeking to end the marriage of Arizona basketball coach Lute Olson, a court spokesman said Friday.

Court spokesman Dave Ricker confirmed that a divorce petition was filed on Thursday in Pima County Superior Court, the same day the 73-year-old Olson -- already on an indefinite leave of absence -- said he would extend his leave through the end of the season.

It's not clear whether Olson or wife Christine filed for divorce.

Ricker said he has not seen the petition, and legal records supervisor Ray Rivas in the clerk's office says court rules bar public scrutiny of divorce petitions until the filer's spouse has been served or 45 days have passed.

The filing was first reported online by the Tucson Citizen and the Arizona Daily Star.

Olson has cited unspecified personal reasons for taking a leave of absence.

In a statement released by the university late Thursday announcing Olson's leave extension, the Hall of Famer said he plans to return to coach the Wildcats for the 2008-09 season.

"There are personal issues within my family that need to be addressed and I must devote my full energy to that," Olson said in the statement.

Olson's divorce lawyer, Leonard Karp, was not in his office at midday Friday and his assistant did not immediately return a call.

Gordon James, a Phoenix public relations executive who has represented the Olsons, said he could offer no immediate comment.

"Mrs. Olson is en route from New York and will be issuing a statement," he said.

James said her flight was expected to arrive Friday evening.

Athletic director Jim Livengood, who was in Chicago with the team, said: "There's no comment from me. It's a personal family matter and should be addressed appropriately."

The Wildcats (No. 24 ESPN/USA Today, No. 22 AP) play Illinois in Chicago on Saturday.

I mean why would you screw with coming back next season. You're gonna be 74. It's as good a time as any to retire. You had a great career. I just don't want him to wind up like Bowden and Paterno in football where they're gonna coach until they die on the field and their teams have gotten progressively worse in the last decade.

23 straight is nice, but he's only won 1 national championship in that span, which is what it is all about

Illinois has a very good team, but I have my eye on this game. Arizona might be a nice play. Looks like they will be getting three points.

By the way, I read that Illinois might be without senior forward Shaun Pruitt, who injured his ankle in practice during the week. Pruitt is averaging 10.3 points and 7.4 rebounds.

I'm liking Arizona in this. Their second half against A&M was epic.

I didn't say they were getting progressively worse, I was referring to the road Bowden and Paterno's teams/recruiting have taken over the past decade or so. I'm not talking about slipping in record, I just am referring purely to age, so the Coach K and Donovan refs make no sense. But you keep arguing. Good passion!
