North Carolina +1 to win 5 Units
Just for the record this isn't a chase bet to try and regain my 5 units lost on Cal back but this is just another bet I love. Yesterday I made the mistake of over looking Cal's injuries and the zone look really gave the shooters from Cal more trouble then I expected. Now as I have said before I am a bit down on UNC this year however, they showed me a lot yesterday. This is still a very good team just in a much different way. Last year they were flying up and down the court and had four guys who put it in almost everytime they touched it. This year they are relying on size. Zeller, Davis, Thompson, and Ware are going to give them a size advantage on anyone they play this year and it showed yesterday. How many times did we see the 6'7 Evan Turner try to go up for a board only to be jumped over and have it ripped away? That is going to be the case for almost every team UNC will cross paths with. However, while they will use the size they still have Graves and Ginyard who both would have fit in perfect with last years team. It is this mix that I think will cause Syracuse problems. The Cuse 2-3 zone is notorious for frustrating very good shooting teams however with all that size UNC has they will be coming right into the zone and this is where the huge mismatch lies. Cuse will ask Onuaku and Jackson to provide some resistance however Onuaku is very soft. Very soft. The guy never uses his body and only seems interested in trying to get an open dunk. This is why he got worked last year by the bigger bodies who just decided they were going to play him hard and out work him. This Cuse team may be better then I thought but so is this UNC team. They are just very different from last year and as long as UNC doesn't start trying to drain 3 after 3 and keeps pounding inside like they did last night they will be fine.
