I understand Johnny’s traveling circus is on the blind Houston fade for whatever reason, and he made a thread about Memphis moneyline today. But that’s not gonna stop me from a nice size play on Memphis getting 13.5 here.
Line is inflated due to Kendric Davis likely being out, and how absolutely horrible they looked without a point guard in the second half of the previous game against UCF. But what’s being overlooked is Alex Lomax being available to steady the ship, which he 100% will do, and the Tigers will make this a game. This is their season every year, playing Houston. When Memphis lost to Tulane a couple weeks ago Penny said “they’ve been chasing us like we’ve been chasing Houston.” It is no secret this is what Memphis prepares for every single year, and Lomax is by no means a perfect player and he’s far from Kendric Davis but he’s a senior who brings experience and poise and he’s been with Penny since middle school and we’re gonna get a good effort out of him today. DeAndre Williams will eat, and Malcolm Dandridge makes his long awaited return as well to provide some much needed size down low.
Johnny may have one this time, and while I don’t have the balls to take moneyline I don’t think the point spread will even come into question in this one. Memphis seems like a very popular pick today, and I hate that, but it is what it is. I shall return whether I have egg on my face or green in my hand.
