I've been impressed by Oregon, goat. And they have proven that they can win when Brooks is off (see Ore St game). But as tempting as those points are for Duck backers, I'm not feeling good about taking them in this one. Washington is reeling, no doubt, as they've pretty much played their way out of any Big Dance contention unless they were to win out in conference play. But this game just scares me with the unknowns regarding the players that are not going to play.

I originally liked Oregon but heard about the suspension of Brooks for the elbow and thought about it more and had to make it a big play on Washington.. Razz talked me into it to tell you the truth..

Washington will be hyped up as ever for this game and this is just a horrible spot for the Ducks to be in without Brooks their point guard who runs the team. Just don't see the Ducks coming out of this game with the win.. Wouldn't be surprised to see Wash win by DD..

Washington needs this game for the future of the season.
Washington is always tough @ Home 11-1 this season..

Just think about this, do you believe Oregon would be 18-1 without Brooks and his 18.4 pts a game?

What type of team would this be? Probably a 13-5 or somewhere around there. Not one who could win in this hostile enviroment IMO..

Razz probably has better reasoning then me.. Hell he was the one who put me on this one.. I'll try to get him in this thread.

Without Brooks, Washington@home is the smartest play. I'm going with the Huskies on a teaser card and will probably play them straight up depending on the line when tip off approaches.

Exactly. And while Tajuan Porter is probably going to develop into a special player, he is a freshman, and he hasn't been the best decision maker. I think they could really get to him here, and force several turnovers/bad shots. While Washington on the road is awful defensively, they are at least decent at home.
Pags and I were talking about it, and we pretty much agreed there isn't a player in the country more crucial to his team's success than AB. Tucker at Wisky is the only person I would even consider as important.
Washington isn't losing this game and making the tournament. They have played three road games in a row, and been pretty much terrible, but they are a different team at home.
This is a game that the line would have been 10 if it was played in the preseason, 13 if Brooks wasn't playing. Oregon has been playing a little above their head, thus the low line (which looks high when you look at the rankings, but IMO it is more than jusitified). Though Oregon is a very good team, it isn't the #7 team in the country. It sort of reminds me of when Wichita State was #8 earlier this season. The Shockers became perfect fade material, and I think Oregon is about to start a stretch like that.
If Oregon wins this game without Brooks, against a team with equal/more talent, in an incredibly hostile environment, against a hungry team ... well, go ahead and crown their asses.

Brooks played in that game my friend.

13 pts 6 AST 34 Mins... Oregon State is garbage by the way. They can't even win in Corvallis.

I agree with Razz if the Ducks win this game in this extremely difficult situation give them the Pac-10 title right now..

Haven't seen much of Oregon personally but I do know how important Brooks has been to this team he is the favorite to win Pac-10 player of the year and I do know this is their go to guy in the stretch of games.

Brooks' first game of this suspension was the season opener vs Lehigh. Malik Hairston was also out. Oregon won by DD anyway, but didn't cover.

Two other notes of significance on this game people may or may not be aware of:

                    1) Spencer Hawes, Washington's leading scorer, was out last game in the blowout loss at Wash St. but is expected to be back for this game.

                    2) The reason Brooks is suspended is that he intentionally elbowed Washington's Ryan Appleby in the last game between these two teams. Here's a quote from Coach Romar last year: "That's something that won't go away. That's going to be brought up, I guarantee, the first time we play Oregon,"

Still, Oregon has a great set of guards even without Brooks, which plays right into Washington's weakness. It's not clear whether the revenge motivation for Washington will be more important than their inexperience. In general, the more experienced and fluid a team is, the more revenge and motivational factors matter. But it should be a great game to watch.

I respectfully disagree with that statement bud.

Even without Brooks, Make no mistake Oregon is the play in this game IMO. However, the only PAC10 game i'm even really considering tonight though is USC ML.

They almost never win at Stanford - believe it's 6 out of 7 - and while USC is a very nice team, I think Stanford is the most underrated team in the country.

Haha. Oregon is shooting slightly under 70% and down 10.
