So I've been reading some picks on here recently and figured I'd join in and start posting my picks and keeping record. I used to play low level college basketball and recently graduated now am obsessed with following and breaking down college ball since I love the game so much. My buddy who gambles on sports recently told me I should try my hand at it and I caught the bug. Good luck to everyone and heres to winning... or losing a paycheck or 2.
Toledo (-2.5)
Toledo in my opinion is the 2nd best team in the MAC and is a really good matchup against Miami (OH). Miami shoots 3’s on nearly 50% of their possessions (and surprisingly on the year shoots better away from home) while Toledo yields opponents only 31% from 3 on defense. They like to run teams off the 3-point line and are much bigger and longer than Miami so that will play right into their hands.
UGA (+8)
Both of these teams are going in opposite directions at this point in the season. Uga’s a young talented team playing some of it’s best ball right now while Arkansas has lost 5 of it’s last 6. Tonight’s game will be a 50-50 game that comes down to the wire so the points are a bonus. If you have the sack ML isn’t a bad bet.
Virginia (-7)
I see a lot of people on NC St. but I just don’t see them being able to hang with the clearly superior team from Virginia. First off, NC St. is simply overrated and isn’t as good of a team as their being perceived or their talent would suggest. Normally I would worry more because of the situation with a top 3 team coming to your home court but they just had an incredible (and lucky) victory against Clemson and definitely just had a weekend chalk full of partying. No contest in this one. 1H is also a good take here.
Pitt (+10)
Pittsburgh has hung in tough with some high level ACC teams this year. With Jeff Capel turning around the culture you can always count on a great effort from the Panthers. The strongest aspect of a team that can really struggled to score is to force opponents into half court situations where they can utilize a strong set man to man defense ranked 19th in the country. Clemson doesn’t play fast which should play right into Pitt’s hands so they should be able to keep this within double digits. The only worry here will be if Clemson can get out in transition by taking advantage of a turnover prone Pitt team void of a true floor general.
Liberty (-2.5)
Of tonight’s games this one not only may be the most exciting but it without a doubt will be the most impactful as it will greatly factor into which undefeated ASUN team hosts the conference tournament. Whomever wins will be legit upset contenders come March. Just a gut here these 2 will split this year with both winning on its home court.
