Washington -3 1/2 is too good to be true

Some of you may have seen my "too good to be true" series of bets over in the NBA forum where I am 9-4 YTD. I decided to try it here.

The premise is that so many of us bettors (including me) are either too lazy to put any work into our picks or don't know what to look for. When I see a 3-1 team going off against a 1-3 team with a small spread like this I have to ask myself why the books would offer a line like this. Then it hits me. The line could be closer than we think.

An additional circumstance is that this is the last game of the night and it's at a tournament that is getting lots of airplay so there should be a lot of interest in this game. The books aren't going to throw away their money with so much money on the line.

Sorry, just saw this now. I try not to make comments until games are over.

When a 1-3 team is up like this at the half I usually just ride out the game.

Nice call.

After thinking about how the first half went I can kind of see why you would take Washington in the 2nd half. A lot of the reason they trailed in the 1st half was because of missed easy baskets, not because of some fundamental shortcoming. Missed easy baskets are something a team can adjust to in the 2nd half.
