Good afternoon,

Most of you probably know this but the NIT is initiating some new rules for their tournament. I feel, as many others do, that it may increase the scoring. Here is a list:

The NCAA announced experimental rule changes Tuesday for the 2018 NIT, including four quarters, a longer 3-point line and a wider paint. Here are the four rule changes that will be in effect for March’s NIT Tournament:

• The three-point line will be extended by approximately 1 foot 8 inches to the same distance used by FIBA for international competition (22 feet 1.75 inches).
• The free throw lane will be widened from 12 feet to 16 feet, consistent with the width used by the NBA.
• The games will be divided into four 10-minute quarters as opposed to two 20-minute halves. Teams will shoot two free throws beginning with the fifth foul of each quarter.
• The shot clock will reset to 20 seconds after an offensive rebound instead of the full 30 seconds.

Interesting. I was thinking these rules would decrease scoring (especially the extended 3-point line and the 4 quarters instead of 2 halves). Do you think the books have adjusted the totals either way?

Interesting. I was thinking these rules would decrease scoring (especially the extended 3-point line and the 4 quarters instead of 2 halves). Do you think the books have adjusted the totals either way?

I think the books adjusted up thinking the 20 second rule would up the tempo of a game, more than offsetting the extended 3 point line. I probably will not be posting anymore NIT totals, since I don't feel anyone really know the ramifications of these rules.

Can't believe that Duke scores only 36 points in the second half to give us a push instead of a win. Duke scored just 2 points in the last 4 minutes!!!!!! WTF!!!!!

Based solely on the "First Look", Redford First Half TT under 25.5 is a a play, BUT I looked a little deeper on this one and decided to PASS. NO PLAY just opining a little.

Based on your over 89 for duke i took the total over 158.5.... figures duke slowed down on scoring missed it by a 3 lol

All those factors plus the rule changes in the NIT. I should have known better after 40+ years of handicapping. I'm really pissed at myself.
