How does South Dakota State stay within 10 of Maryland???

First of all, a little background. I've been following a lot of these mid-major schools like So Dak St and IPFW who are both in the Summit league along with teams like Oakland and Valpo. Some of these teams have been real ATS kings.

However, they don't even come close to the talent of a team like Maryland. So Dak St was neck-and-neck with IPFW for the Summit League title most of the year. IPFW just got beat by the other SDSU, San Diego St, 55-79 in the NIT. Maryland just recently lost to Michigan St by only 3.

I can't remember another time I've seen two teams from such different backgrounds this close in the ATS line. I'm pulling out all the stops and taking Maryland -9 1/2.

Thanks for the input and I see your points. I believe SDSU caught Minnesota at a bad time. Minnesota even lost to South Dakota around that time and South Dakota is a sub-par team. Minnesota certainly improved between being beaten by the 2 South Dakota teams and beating Maryland. I have to believe Maryland is quite improved since being beaten by Minnesota.

Personally, I think looking at past matchups is a horrible way to handicap games. It doesn't tell us anything except how those teams played on that particular day two months ago or whatever. It simply doesn't translate.

Well they stay inside the number because Melo Trimble will keep them in it with his turnovers and 15% shooting. He can't hit the broad side of a barn and still takes 14 shots a game.

This actually does look pretty fukkin safe..typically when 10 leg parlay and safe don't belong in the same sentence. GL with syracuse, im riding them aswell

If MD plays smart and gets the ball inside instead of Trimble throwing up long 3 pointers they will be OK. But sometimes Trimble thinks he is the only player that can shoot and if he isn't hitting which is quite normal S D S could cover.

I think the key here,for MD to cover the number is: To get Melo and Suli to drive the lane a lot and get the ball to Stone in the paint. This to be done to get SDST best player Daum into foul trouble.The Jackrabbits play a 4 gaurd set-up with Daum in the middle.It may be close for a little bit....then the talent and depth will take over. Also IMO SDST is the weakest of the 12 seeds.....good luck to all.
