    Free Throws......
Free throws have to be the easiest shot in basketball.

I know there is a lot of pressure, but, damn, at the free throws that have cost me all week. Teams are missing several throughout the entire game. Just ugly basketball.

It's driving me insane. Although I was glad Louisville missed three in the last 30 seconds since Marquette sux so bad. It helped me push that game.

    Any thoughts on this...

would you rather practice a three point shot or sit on the boring foul line all day?? Young players don't want to sit on the foul line anymore, and its sad because free throws win games!!!

they were a big priority in my small time D-III school.... if the team missed below 70% we were "required" to show up "voluntarily" for an extra 30 mins of running and shooting ft's..... every practice ended with running and shooting except days before games...

It amazes me that the #1 ranked team in the country does not have 1 relaible ft shooter.

I agree with this a lot of the younger athletes are no longer sitting at the line for an extra hour a day to add a few points to their FT%.

I've never seen a kid around here just shoot free throws.... never.... so yeah I Understand the mentality and the cultural surround of b-ball here is nothing like what I grew up in... but if i'm a coach in D-1 or hell in a big H.S I would change that quick..

Get rid of FTs in basketball. Just take the ball back out top. FTs are killing the NBA game. At least in college hoops, the game doesn't seem to revolve around FTs quite as profoundly as in the pros. But get rid of FTs anyway and hoops becomes a much much better game all around. I switch the channel when they're shooting FTs.

With all due respect, I believe a break away, uncontested dunk is the easiest shot in basketball.

I've seen that old guy in Guiness Book that made like 1000 in a row or whatever, yea it seem so easy to practice FTs too, they've got that net thing that they set up to roll the ball back to you so guys can practice that shot without even leaving the line, yet they've got guys shooting sub 50% FT I mean fuk if you have any coodination at all you can do better than 50% on a FT no matter who you are, I understand there's psychological pressure but fuk these guys that barely hit the front of the rim, its like they never even dream that theyll be asked to shoot a FT, when guys like Dejuan Blair are fouled half the time they drive to the hoop then shoot 40% from the line, Memphis blew the national championship bc they couldnt make 2 out of their last 4 FTs, I mean shit isnt there someone on that team that could've guaranteed 2 out of 4 FTs, some chemistry major 5 ft tall guy who could just hold the ball and shoot FTs during the last minute like a secret weapon or somethin

No excuse for missing a free throw. Its all about practice and focus. Its the most fundamental shot in hoops. Problem is, these kids don't practice. They assume, they will make all of their ft's.

I agree. Everyone should be shooting 100% from the charity stripe.

Games would be much more high scoring if this were true.

I don't agree with this at all. You can practice and focus all you want. Your fundamentals can all be there but you are not accounting for crowd noise, situation, pressure, fatigue and the point spread.

May aswell keep fouling towards the end of games, these chokers can't take a bit of pressure.

Since when should a foul shooter, I don't care what league, factor in point spread? Sounds a little like Pete Rose to me. IMHO.
