college wager for round one games friday
Marquette -4 (buying a half point) over utah st

it kinda makes me laugh a little bit when i see everyone jumping all over utah state....i know marquette lost one of their best players.....but still lets examine this game.....marquette's backcourt has seniors who are seasoned.....lazar haywood is playing big in the post.....big east team that has played the iron all season....and they shoot free throws well and play defense....now i look at utah st......they got beat down by a patty mills less st mary's team.....i also see a double digit loss at boise st and no quality wins......the team is very young....and does not shoot free throws well or have as much athleticism at marquette.....stay away from the "sexy pick" utah st... and take marquette....they play as a team and never give up.

Have to respectfully disagree...Marquette is only 1-5 without D. James...definitely a tough loss for them. Also, this is going to be essentially a home game for USU. Have a buddy up in Boise who says the place is swarming with Aggie fans and its estimated that more than 2/3 of the game's attendance will be cheering for USU. JMHO. BOL.

i can guarantee you if marquette went into boise state they would not lose by double digits like your boys utah st did.

Boston, good writeup, leaning Marq. but never saw Utah St. play? With my losing ways of late thought Marq. would be another wrong side for me!

i have watched them play 2 games monkey.....they are kind of gimmicky....they are slow...im looking at all the teams they played and honestly its the worst resume ive ever seen....if marquette played that schedule they would be 33-1 at the worst.

and capper....st john's had madison square garden filled for the big east tourney game against marquette...and look how that turned out for them.....it means nothing marquette goes on the road against louisville, connecticut etc etc.....i don't think they will be bothered.

you too bank.....in the beginning they were playing out of conference games and they seemed to be playing better.....but as of late they seem to be regressing....i just don't think 4 is enough against a legitimate big east team....marquette was in every game but 1 this year.....veteran leadership and free throw percentage is key late in these games....the 2 times i saw utah state they fell behind and in the end they fouled with 3 minutes to go late in the games...if they do this to marquette ...marquette will win by 8-10...for me everything points to marquette

i really like florida st..they have size...good coaching and douglas is amazing......i went to a big sky college....i follow that league alot.....if dominguez plays well portland st covers....but they are not as good as last year....and i actually like boston college over usc.....pac-10 was bad this year...look at ucla barely beating a colonial athletic team......so far acc has done well with duke and maryland...and tyrese rice will run the show for the eagles.

they never get it right.......arizona is too thin...utah has the big center neville...he should dominate....bc defeated nc and duke....almost twice.....they have the talent

tru but usc may not have played like it most the year but they have as much talent as anybody and tim floyd is very good at comin up with dfences to stop good scorers. i know bc has some good wins but damn they got some really bad loses as well

is it possible that the good teams were playing down to them?

Just wanted to point something out...Utah St is one of the most offense efficient teams in the country and shoots leads the nation in FG% 15th in 3PT% and 32nd in FT% which is much better than Marquette at 62 or something. They also aren't as young as you think because a lot of them don't come out of HS and hit college...Wilkinson is 26 for Christ sakes. Now I am not a Utah homer in any way and I despise them more than I'll get into. I agree with a lot that you guys have mentioned above however this team can win. They have a lot of the tools to be successful in the tourney so I wouldn't take them lightly. Also playing in Boise will do them wonders because their fans travel well and they are some of the most intense/rude fans you will see so they will bring it and I wouldn't be surprised to see them make a game and maybe win.

Efficient teams in their conference which can be misleading. Radford was very efficient in thier conference, they average 76 a game and couldnt score 60 yesterday. Marquette lost a lot in the end but against great teams and like someone said they were in all of those games. To lose to Lville by 2 and on a last second shot against Nova shows this team can play witout james. The last out of conference game played by Utah State was at a St.Marys team without Patty Mills and they lost by 11. I like Marquette a lot in this one..I dont think the mid majors have it this year.

I think you are underrating Utah State a bit. And I feel that Marguette is the most overrated Big East team in that they played a softer schedule that the true upper echelon teams until the final weeks, at which time they were exposed a bit. True, they had no James, but even with him, they were unproven vs. the best teams in the BE.
