I love Sunday Hoops and the slate is tempting today --it has everything from early good match ups to a late one for our viewing pleasure, so I thought I would sort through them and look for some winners!
Illinois vs Indiana --May want to hold your nose for this stinker as the Hoosiers are a bad club and are in last place for a reason. The Hoosiers have been bad all year and in the last meeting in Illinois they were thrashed by 31 points. The one thing that may help the Hoosiers is that Illinois is a bad road team and are off a game where they had to mount a serious comeback to beat a middle of the road Northwestern team. In the last game Indiana started four freshman so if your going to bet on them be very careful. The key to me is if Devan Dumes plays this game. He was suspended by his coach for throwing an elbow and they have not announced if he will play. He is the leading scorer for the Hoosiers and if plays today I might be tempted to take the points in this game but for now I will pass. The fans still come to see the Hoosiers play as it is a sell out and will be "Stripeout" in Indiana. This line is right on in my opinion but it is interesteing to note that Illinois is 16-32 ATS in the last three years after allowing 60 points or less in the previous game. I believe Dumes will play and they want to reward the fans for selling out even though they are not playing well.
Hoosiers +10 (*Only if Dumes Plays)
Clemson Vs Virginia
The second game seems alot like the first as a 20 game winner in Clemson travels to a bottom dweller in the Cavaliers, a team that has lost eight straight! The Cavs played well in the last game against Florida St and actually led at the half before losing yet again. This is a positive sign but that does not mean they will be able to keep up with Clemson. The Tigers have been lights out from behind the 3 point arc and K.C. Rivers was 8-11 from 3 against BC. He may look to have another big game today going against Virginia since he has averaged 27.7 points per game playing in that state. When Clemson wins in the ACC they turn out to be big wins and have won five ACC games by double digits this year. I would like to back Clemson here but I am not sold that they will have another big game from three point land and they are sour from the charity stripe shooting just 67% on the road. Those free ones could be the difference in covering this big number. This game is a pass for me.
