First of all I think It is best to say something up about money management at this point, ultimately the most important issue of all. All those guys that talk about the big plays they are making betting half or more of their bankroll on a given team, the 5 game parlays etc etc etc realy have a hidden desire to punish themselves. They are ego driven and continue to make the same mistakes over and over. The definition of insanity is to continue to do the same thing over and over and expect different results! It is one ounce short of impossible to win unless you have a common sense disciplined approach to wagering ( investing).
Here is how I approach the issue . It is important to place your wagers DEFENSIVELY. You do not want to get tapped out. The following offers you a 99% + chance of not tapping out. Not only that you will be taking some of your winnings out if it happens after the first double up period.
We will start with $1000 in this example.
I have 5 strengths of playable games
20 unit plays (15-20 a year)
15 very strong plays
10 units strong plays
5 units good plays.
I am interested in increasing my bankroll until it doubles. When it does i take half my winnings fromit and sock it away. Thus when it gets to $2000 I made $1000 and take half that and put it away. I now have $ 3000. I continue to do this throughout.
My unit strength of each game determines the amount I play.
This is my formula. I square the unit strength then double that and then change it to 1/10 the play . Thus a 5 unit play is 5 X 5 =25 x 2 = 50. Thus a five unit bet is a $5.00 play with a $1000 bankroll.
10 units is 10 x 10=100 x 2= $200 or $20 15 units is 15x15 =225 x 2 =450 or $45. Finally concerning my rare super strong play I do one thing differently I quardruple the amount. 20 x 20 = 400 x 4 =1600 or $160. I also do a 12 unit play which is a compromise between a strong play and a very good play. That works out to $30.
The amount to play becomes easy to figure if you just remember the approximate percentage each play triggers off. i gave you the formula but you just need to know the %.
5 unit plays are 1/2 % of your bankroll
10 are 2%
12 are 3%
15 are 4 1/2%. I round this off to 5%
The rare 20 unit plays are 16%. I round it off to 15%
Yesterday Jan 29th Thurs was a great example how good money management turned an uneventful day into a tidy profit . Here were my plays in order of the how they were posted on SBR using $1000 as my bankroll. I use Matchbook to make my plays and get different odds then most. I actually get an average of +103 odds. I will use the folowing example though as if it were getting even odds.

Ark L. R. 20 unit play won 150

Tenn St 10 lost 20
N Color 10 won 20 I thought I lost this when I started
posting this. They somehow
covered at the end of the game
Ohio U 15 lost 50
Port St 5 lost 5
I was 8-7 on my "investment" plays but won $ 285 and lost $150. Profit was at 13 1/2%. Flat bets would have gotten me $232 -$203 . A three game parlay on my 3 strongest games would have lost. When the bankroll reaches $2000 half ($ 500) the profit is taken out. The process is repeated but now we have $1500 to work with.
I will be posting more information today. I was glad to get some of your responses. I have not read everything but will get to it as time permits. Here is a question that was asked of me 3 times. Where can I get reliable stats ets. Sportstrends has a great software program. I am not associated with them but highly recommend their software . It is reasonably priced and it works!
Cheers
