Bettman has taken NHL to a higher level in the USA. He boosted tv ratings dramatically. He helped the comeback of the NHL in the USA. and he got the deal done where now the NHL is widely accessible on a major cable television network again (NBC).

None of this matters if they lose the season. Turns off all the new fans and pisses off the loyal ones. NHL isn't the NBA or the NFL. Sad, but true.
