The Blue Jackets are 2-0 at home this season while scoring nine goals in those games. The Rangers are just 1-3 after a 5-0 start, and they are only averaging 2.40 goals overall. Take Columbus as small dogs.
The Columbus Blues Jackets have been a collective thorn in the sides of the New York Rangers for several years now, and we look for the Blue Jackets to emerge victorious again tonight.
Granted, these teams have met just once each year since the advent of the New NHL, but the Jackets won both of those meetings and they are an even better team this season with serious playoff aspirations.
Columbus was a pesky team at home last year, and they are off to a nice 2-0 start in this building this season, outscoring their two home opponents by a combined score of 9-5. Sure, their goaltending has been a bit shaky, but Columbus has a young, exciting offense led by Rick Nash that can put the puck in the net, especially at home.
Now the Rangers got off to a 5-0 start, but they have lost three out of four games since then with the lone win coming in a shootout after what was a 0-0 game through regulation and overtime. While the Blue Jackets can score goals in bunches, the Rangers gave struggled, averaging just 2.40 goals per game overall and scoring a total of just seven goals during their current four-game funk.
Let us score one for the home team at plus odds here.
