Very close. The value is with Phoenix +153. Both have played excellent in the playoffs. Remember that these teams battled for the number one spot in their division until the very end of the regular season. The team that won out was not from California. Who is the more battle-tested team? I would say Phoenix, especially with all those OT games in round one. Game 1 will tell if the Kings suddenly found a new and improved offense or if the St. Louis defense crumbled at the wrong time. The general public sees four straight LA wins, but not that Elliot recorded a horrendous .833 save percentage for the series. If you're looking for a reason for the exaggerated series price, look no further. Kings have one of the lowest shooting percentages in the league, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them go back to that in a fight between two teams that know each other very well. Goalies/defenses are equally good, so Phoenix can't sit back for whole periods at a time; they have to stay close in the number of shots taken. The teams split the season series 3-3, with Phoenix winning the last two.

            Good analysis DH

I saw this line and knew right away it was off. One of those times you don't even have to look at any numbers, 100% instinct.

Curious if the layoff will have an impact on either team in game 1. Seed position at this point I do think should play a lot into your wagering decisions. The line shows this appears to be a 1 goal game margin of victory. On the other hand, LA is playing much better now than earlier in the season and faced stronger competition than Pho has so I'd lean towards LA for game 1 based on that stat alone IMO.

Regardless of the value, Kings seem to be destined to win the cup.
Love what Phoenix has done specially Smith coming from Tampa but that value is just not enough to back them after what I've seen. Best of luck (even though an LA vs NY would be much more fun).

I took LA because I'm wanting LA to win the cup IMO but I wouldnt put it past yotes to take this in an under. stammer told me smithy is the most athletic goalie he's ever played with at 6'5 and so agile. Still want LA though.

Phoenix loses game 1. Outshot 48 to 27. Teams too closely matched to allow such an imbalance. They came out with just 4 shots in the first period. Rust? Still, the game was tied 2-2 after two periods with LA outshooting the Coyotes 34-18. Smith .936 and Quick .926 save percentages for the game. Number of shots should be much closer in game 2 for Phoenix to tie the series.

If the Kings stay healthy going to take a minor miracle for Phoenix to take the series IMO. Kings have had so few bad shifts the whole playoffs and you can't count on Quick to give up a goal like he did tonight. Too bad juice likely to be out of hand on the series price.

Coyotes got outworked. If they play like that again in game 2 they have no chance at all. They're angry with themselves now, which should translate into a much stronger effort. They played just as soft in game 1 of the last series. Almost like they need a warmup game.
