It didn't take a genius to realize Pittsburgh and Chicago were going to be serious threats in the future when they were terrible. Most knowledgeable hockey fans realize the Oilers are going down this path. Obviously they aint there yet as they still missing a few pieces, but clearly in a little while they will be contending repeatedly. It's actually reality, most people know it.

I think any team that has had back to back 1st overall draft picks should be doing a lot better, but has it been the case with the oilers which are currently the 2nd worst team in the league? Even with a healthy line up they are terrible and you expect to win the cup in a few years? A lot of things can change in the next few years but it is nothing more than wishful thinking to think they will win the cup for a team as pathetic as the oilers. The glory days of the oil are long gone, it's time for the fans to realize it's most likely never going to happen anytime in the near future.

Clearly you don't follow anything about the Oilers whatsoever. Try doing some research instead of just spitting out whatever garbage you can think of to defend your weak arguement. Like I said the same was said of both CHI and PIT a while back. They didn't really make gradual progression, they sucked for a few years even with there amazing talent, then had absolute breakout years. Winninng the cup shortly after. Clearly the Oilers are trending this way. Most likely there breakout year will either be the next season or the one after. Following that they will be legitimate contenders for some time after that. Clearly you have some jealousy and/or hate for them. Get real, its happening, deal with it.

Fired up? Ignorant people don't have that ability on me. I was just stating facts. Don't kid yourself, theres a quite a few gm's that would love to have young elite talent as the Oilers do.
