Caboman's 2011/12 Hockey Picks

I don’t intend to lie and say that I am some pro capper, but I have been around the forums for a few weeks, and have been betting hockey and CBB for a couple of years. I am going to start tracking my picks to see if following the good cappers around here is making me money or not.

I have placed 200 units online ($20 units), and will be splitting 100 units for CBB and 100 units for hockey.

As far as hockey goes, I don’t like to bet any large dogs or large favorites. I find that in hockey, barring the top and bottom 2 or 3 teams in the league, almost any team can win on a given night, though I have not been tracking closely enough to really know if that is true. Even though they win more often than not, I prefer not to lay -220 to -250 for some of the home favorites lately like Vancouver and San Jose. If I can get Boston on the road at -140 to -160 I might bet them though.

Regularly, I bet either 2 or 4 games per night, and bet usually on teams laying between -120 and +140. The idea is that if I go 1/2 or 2/4 on the night, I am up. If I can scrape out 3 out of 4, that’s just a bonus.

OK, so 4-8 down 3.40 units, I did something different today. Took the Ranger ML at -125 for 3.75 units paying 3 units, and also took them for 1 unit at +235 on the PL -1.5 and hit both!

Current Record 6-8, up 2.70 units! Thanks New York!

I am going to stick with the underdog theory, as well as the ML/PL combo idea. Going to play enough on the ML so that if I lose the PL, I am still up between both bets. We will see how it goes.

Looks like I should have gone with the Red Wings instead of the Jets... crap.

Oh well, Tampa came through for me, won me 3.85 units. Looks like the Jets might win for another 2 units, but the other look like losers.

So, I pumped up the Canucks to 5 units, 1.5 at -135 and now 3.5 more at -130.

What a missed opportunity with all 3 favorites winning by more than 1 goal. Could have been a great night if I have the balls.

Fell asleep with the Sharks down 1-0 and was relieved to wake up seeing they came back and won 3-1.

Yikes... I took a couple of days off after the abomination that has been my picks recently. Another huge loss on the above posted picks, and after a couple of small 1 unit losses in the following days, my updated record going into yesterday was 24-33 down 8.9 units on the year.

Yesterday, I put in 2xPL and 3xML bets on Boston, and sweated it out until they hit it bigtime in the 3rd period, and ended up winning 7 units on the day. So, my record since I started posting is now 26-33 -1.9 units.
