I think I'm starting to get the hang of it, and definitely have a greater feel for hockey betting. This is a thread where I will post my picks and hopefully have a discussion about them in the process.

Yesterday I had

Boston PL
Detroit PL
Toronto ML
detroit/dallas/boston/toronto in a 4 team parlay.

Obviously I went 0-4, got really greedy with the Boston and Detroit picks as I knew for a fact that Montreal plays Boston extremely tough. Should have stuck with Boston and Detroit ML, not bet on Toronto as they really stink and I knew for a fact that they stunk and knew the moment I confirmed my bet that it was a mistake. I had the instincts to bet Dallas but I put my money in the parlay.

Had I gone with my head I would have been up 3-1.

Starting today I will bet smarter and I will stay away from parlays and puck lines unless a unique situation comes up.

Tuesday's picks:

Buffalo/Ottawa Over 5.5 3*
Minnesota/Calgary U 5 3*
New York/New Jersey 2*
New York Islanders/Winnipeg Over 5.5 2*

I didn't think the Devils would get pounded so badly. Looks like the Rangers are back to form, will probably pick them as favorites against anyone not named Boston, Detroit, or St Louis. Winnipeg game was atrocious. 4 goals in first two periods and nothing in the third. Luckily that was a 2* play.

Tonight I'm going with:

Carolina/Phoenix Under 5.5 2 units
Vancouver to win 2 units
SJ/Chicago parlay 2 units

vancouver is up 4-2 with a minute left, i'll call it now. Sharks up 6-1 in the third so I'm calling that now as well.

2-1 on the night on NHL bets, but had one huge bet in the DePaul game that hit for me so a big night overall. Hopefully this continues tomorrow.

Seems like Ottawa has Florida's number.

1)Ottawa won 7 straight against Florida

2)Ottawa just won convincingly against Penguins and Buffalo 6-2 and 4-1 respectively.

3)Florida lost to Phoenix and have gone to OT/SO with average teams recently.

4)Ottawa is at near full strength.

Thinking of hitting the PL on this one.

Rangers looked great against New Jersey.

1)4-2 against Islanders in the last 6 games.

2)Montoya and Dipietro both on injury list.

3)Rangers has way more talent than the islanders.

May also be a PL play. I think there's a decent chance that both will cover -1.5 and would bet both, and i think one will definitely get it for push.

^Total agreement there. Just assumed Howard would be in net for some reason plus I'll still take Conklin against the Flames especially after last night.

That's how it goes. Sometimes it's good to get in there early. Usually by the time I bet I do lose a little value from line movement. Wish goalies were announced sooner (like pitchers in MLB)....

YEEESSSSSSS I just parlayed 90 bucks on rangers 1.5/ottawa over!!!! Made serious cash tonight will lots of bets yet to be competed. Now if ottawa wins here I have other parlays alive, if not, just a few less. =]

calgary really going off on detroit, same with edmonton on minny. Have small bets on both detroit and minny, don't think those will hit. Got a little on Detroit U 3 though and they're scoreless so who knows. Still VERY happy about my back door parlay winner. LOVING nashville right now.

PHILADELPHIA/Rangers (leaning towards Philly ML, probably over now that Giroux is back they can score on anyone and Philly's goalie ain't too great)
Tampa/COLORADO PL strongly leaning towards PL, Tampa is pretty bad. Think it will go over as well.
OTTAWA/Carolina Caro has a bad home record, bad L10 record, atrocious in general.
La/SJ S. Jose with powerful home record, leaning towards the under
