    Hard lessons learned
    Hello all,

I'm relatively new to the forums as far as posting goes. I've followed many of you for sometime now.

I recently caved, got greedy and earlier this week I got a call from a company called
Las Vegas Sports Advisory. Told me about their college bball "game of the year" I thought it was funny because we aren't even halfway into the season. Long story short I paid $60 for a week of plays from these guys.. The "game of the year" covered the 5 point spread by 1 point I was instructed to play 3 units to cover and 1.5 on the ml. I walked away up 1.5 units. Wednesday I get a play he refuses to give me their "best play" for the day because I won't give another $100 to them he even suggested I sell my college books 3 days out from finals week so I can pay them. I laughed in his face. So, he gives me a play and says to just put 3 units on the cover. I do so and I lose. Now I'm irritated he tells me earlier today if I'd paid them $100 yesterday I would've got the other pick and it covered so, it's my fault. I called back and laid into this slime ball for a good 5 minutes and all he came back with was asking for more money. I told him if he doesn't get me out of the red and make me the money he promised he'd make me over and over there's not a chance in hell I'll give him a dime. So he told me to bet everything I can possibly put on the NYR/TB over 5.5 tonight. As you all may guess I'm very reluctant to make this play especially for "everything I've got"

Curious if I could get some of your guys' input in this game. So that I can make a better informed decision on what the play is here. Long term goal. Get out of the hole from this company and never fall for one of these cold calls again. I'm fully aware I got myself in this situation and appreciate anyone's willingness to assist.

Thanks all and BOL on tonights huge NHL card.

Never played for a play in my life but I'm actually already on NYR/TB over 5.5. Don't know what to think now about my play.

Are you seriously chasing the lost $60 for a week of plays? The 3 unit play is on you, as you shouldn't ever bet on outcomes that you don't agree with, no matter who the tout is. If you like the over play for today, then play it, otherwise don't bet it simply because he told you to. The point is, don't go deeper in the hole for a cause you don't believe in, the tout doesn't give a shit about your losses, he already accomplished what he sought to when he hooked you in the first time. I'm sorry I can't give any insight about the NYR/TB over, but best of luck if you play it.

This thread seems to be mis-titled because you clearly haven't learnt any lessons yet. Firstly don't play anything for "everything you've got". Especially if you didn't give the tout any extra funds, he really has no reason to want to help you out. Seems like he'd profit more off of you if you lost a lot of money and came back to him desperate like a crack fiend willing to sell your college books to pay him so you can try and make it back.

And like someone above me said, don't make plays you don't like yourself, cause it's an extremely sickening feeling when you lose money because somebody elses play, and it seems like if you lose cause this tout.....it'd be a terrible fuckin feeling because in a way, he wins.

        Best of luck!!

Guys guys guys while I appreciate the comments. I think you're missing the point. I'm not chasing I'm asking for this forum full of talented handicappers for their opinion on this game. The story was for background purposes. Seeing as the puck drops shortly I've already put in the bet. In my opinion I do feel like this game will go over.

While I appreciate your guys' time I really don't think any of your comments were useful or directed at the real question that I posed. I understand it's a forum and you're all free to say as you please.

          Have a nice evening

I am a lightning fan and I watch most of their games. I also played the over tonight! That doesn't mean we are going to win, but it has a decent shot and that's all you can ask for...

slow start to the game with only 1 goal. 2nd period needs to pick up pace or we are toast for this bet. Might have been a wiser move to take the rangers -1.5. The lightning look lost without St Louis.

Yes very very slow game. I'd like to see a little more aggressive play from TB. Still about half the game left. I've seen plenty of 5+ goal 3rd periods so lets stay optimistic.

Also I do advise to make a few stiff mixed drinks.. Now that way if it is a loser it won't hurt as much

problem with getting hammered and gambling is you wake up the next morning with an empty account and no memory of the events that took place to reach that point.

the lightning have failed to score on 2 separate 5 on 3's... that's not helping our cause at all.

The last 8 minutes of the 2nd make the 3rd look promising. The Rangers celebrating on that 2nd goal was just the spark I think the lightning need. They are going to come out and play real aggressive this 3rd... Unfortunately for you, a lightning fan, looks like you will be dealing with the loss of St. Louis and now Downie (spelling?)

yeah we have been sucking this season so far. I wouldn't be surprised to see the rangers score some more, but the lightning can't even score with a 2 man advantage. We are in trouble on this bet.

well you can't win them all. I should have bought out once I read your tout story. Touts never win.

Yep. Luckily my NFL bet is looking solid and should offset the losses and we live another day. I'm going to enjoy laying into this guy tomorrow a total chump and my guess is the coward doesn't even try to contact me.

best advice I can give to you is pick your own games. No one knows or has access to any more information than you. You have the internet so you have the same advantages as everyone else. Do your own research and make your own picks. Those touts don't bet on anything, they just make money off people buying their shitty picks. You will lose some, and you will win some, but when you pick your own games you can't blame anyone but yourself for the results.
