    NHL repository of statistics
    Hey all,

Does anyone know a good place where I can say the last 20 years or better of NHL statistics in more/less any downloadable format. I can write a PERL script to grab them if they are only listed in a non-downloadable format.

I have manually imputed 2010/2011 stats myself (well a PERL script) but I would like to use more data to perform a regression analysis. Critical to this is to have the players which played each game, thus if a player was injured and did not play, that my analysis can take this into account.

If anyone else also knows where I can get that data along with the betting lines as well (aka the ML, PL, and O/U for that game) that would be great.

    Thanks again!

What kind of statistics are u looking for?
Standard G-A-Points? Because those stats are (generally) almost irrelevant and meaningless.

The game has changed so much that any statistics that aren't fairly current are meaningless (last 3-5 years or so)

Preferably the most complete full game data that I can get. Obviously things like Goals, Assists, and Points for the players, along with totals goals, assists and points for the team and for the game. The regression analysis will tell me if these are, as you say, 'irrelevant and meaningless'.

But, I would also like to know penalty infraction minutes, number of penalties, scores at even strength, power play goals, plus/minus, shots on goal, short handed goals, goals per game, face-off win percentage, average time on ice, GAA, etc.

If I could get this for each game played, i.e. in this game, there were X PIM, with 1 goal at even strength, and 2 power play goals, there players were playing, during the season they had an averge of X goals per game, etc.

In short, the more the better.

I agree that with the rule changes that pre-2005 data will be less valuable. But if anyone knows this information for post 2006 then that would also be great. If the data is out there for pre-2005, I still would rather have it and eliminated it, then not have it.
