    Dont bet hockey
I would never advise people not to bet on sports but this shit is totally impossible. Maybe its better to wait till later on. I only lost a half unit tonight but this shit is fukkin unpredictable. Games never seem to go the wya they are supposed to.

Quit betting favorites and learn something about hockey and it is one of the better sports to bet on IMO.

Always like this early in the year but seems crazier than usual this year.

Dogs have been hitting at an insane pace it will slow down soon enough.

Totals and team totals are where it's at in hockey.

People can profit of NHL handicapping (me not one of them unfortunately), you should stick to losing money on the NFL by taking big underdogs instead of losing money on the NHL

unders in nashville, washington, and rangers seem to be pretty consistent. i cant believe boston with only 2 wins but colorado has 5! then again, only 5 or 6 games into the season doesnt tell you too much

the nhl is an unforgiving sport to bet on and most people cant cut it.

hardest sport to cap but it is one of my best.

LB I disagree. Unders have been hitting pretty consistently and small dogs have been good plays.

I agree, lately the dogs were hitting all over the place and then last night it seemed like other then boston and vancouver a favorite or popular team couldnt lose. Its a tough start.

totals seem like the better play in most cases unless you bet dogs. Way too much juice on favs usually. So much research has to be done in regards to totals. Ice surface, team with the last change, estimated number of power plays, any bad blood between the two teams, ability to play from behind, etc. Hard to handicap, but it is such an awesome sport.

For instance would like to take the over 5.5 goals (most likely number set) the next time Boston and Carolina play, but who the hell knows if there will still be bad blood because they don't play again until January 14th. Rough.

First three weeks of the NHL: Don't bet, observe.
Find the value in dogs, NHL is an uproar league where the best can always get beaten by the worst. You'll see teams like Ottawa, Edmonton, Islanders and Colorado getting points against Pittsburgh, Washington etc.
Even better is finding value in home dogs. This goes for teams as Winnipeg who will have a rough season on the road due to distances but a constantly loving homecrowd.

Oh, and if the overs and unders are juiced, don't take them. I don't go below -120 to -125 on totals unless I feel something really good.

I know some people here feed of the hcp betting but for me its more of a gamble. Generally to be consistent in this league you'll find that the dogs treat you the best, specially the homedogs.

That's exactly what I was thinking, some of the totals I saw were getting juiced up to -150.

NHL is a very profitable sport in my opinion. First of all, lines are not very sharp. Many times you can find yourself asking, why this team is underdog? Early season is a gold mine. I'm betting NHL since opening day. Public bets on name so you can find nice value in first weeks.

My principle in hockey is simple. I always look for dogs. I always look for "value". Home ice advantage is overrated. Don't give too much credit on home advantage. Look for value. Stick with money management, profits will come..

wait a few weeks before making any hardcore wagers-c'mon, you knew this coming in. let trends develop and get a much better feel for who's taking on who.
but if you must i believe totals are the way to go early on.....
im thinking about placing a few half unit wagers myself this season once chit chills a bit. i think i got an overall winning season in me if i pick and choose my battles. some nights easy/free $ abounds. its my objective to spot it and rake it in. however, its not every night, or maybe even every week. but they are out there and smashable.
dont get into the "i need action everyday" grind......
i wish you the best of luck and for the love of god dont give up on hockey, there is no better sport to wager on.
